| Diamond Starfire01-21-05, 02:39 AM | It's a unique situation because I am running a male human Wizard 5th. The only human who is travelling with three other Dwarves. It just ended up that way after losing several other characters to death. My original character was a human fighter. Anyhow among his adventure's he's witnessed the end of a major Dwarvish stronghold, avoided an Orc army some 55,000 strong, and is currently traveling to find out what happened to another city that may have been attacked. Also, whil;e trying to avoid a large Orc raiding party, the party he was with tryied to avoid running into them after they had come across a ruined town high in the mountainsbecause they were heavily outnumbered (there were 80 Orcs) by tieing a rope among themselves and climbing down the edge of a cliff to avoid being spotted. They were spotted and fired upon. They took some arrows but eventually the Dwarves slipped and would have tumbled over the side if not for my Wizard. He was the only one keeping them from completely falling off the cliff. He it was like being on a stretcher rack torture device while the Orcs stood there and laughed at their predicament. Eventually they were able to climb down to another ledge. The Orcs were driven off by another group of Dwarvish Warriors. Just some situations he was in. |
| TheGoatFish01-21-05, 07:50 AM | I can top that ^_^ Eberron campaign Here's the party: Human Druid lvl 4, Warforged Fighter lvl 4, Human Ranger 4/ Artificer 1, Shifter barbarian 2 / Ranger 2, Half Elf wizard 4 Enemies: 5 kobolds behind a low wall, 3 Gnoll Archers, 1 ogre We entered in through a 10 foot opening, and saw a low wall, with 3 gnolls and an ogre behind it the warforged moved out into the area, in front of the wall, and my shifter was next. Naturally, being of sub-average intellegence and low wisdom, he decided to jump the wall and attack the ogre, which he knew he could take out on his own. so he rushes out, jumps over the wall, and onto 5 kobold spears. I messed up when building him, and although he did a minimum of 18 dmg a turn, he had a mere 14 AC when raging. so, not expecting them, he had shifted and raged on that turn, so he was unable to fight off 5 kobolds. skewered. The Gnolls ran away, so we easily beat the enemies, and with 2 kobolds left, we were at a point where we were just screwing around. The warforged lost a grapple check against a kobold in that small time period. lol That was when it happened. Somebody mentioned fire. Our resident DnD Pyro, the artificer, had extremely bad luck with alchemists fire/lightning in the past, but, he used it anyways. so he jumps on the wall, lobs the alchemists fire at a kobold. and misses. and hits the warforged fighter. who fails his roll. and gets set on fire. Now, all would have been well if that was it, but his inventory was set on fire, and he just happened to be our pack mule as well as our meat shield. He had an unidentified wand on him. This is where we lucked out. it was merely a wand of hold. the artificer burned ALL his action points saving himself from the wand, and he had just gained a level last battle! and the same with the druid, though she hadnt gained a level recently. and 1 kobold made it, somehow. If youve never seen a kobold come within an inch of ending a fully healed war forged fighter in one shot, then youre missing out. |
| Diamond Starfire01-21-05, 10:38 PM | Actually I once saw a guy's 16th level fighter taken out by a Kobold in one single attack. The Kobold had thrown his dagger at the fighter out of desperation because the traps had all been disarmed. The DM rolled. The dice spun about forever then it laid to rest on a 20. Then he rolled again. It came up a 20. The third time was the charm when he rolled it again and it once again came up a 20. So here's this tiny little 1hd Kobold with this tiny little dagger who killed this tough fighter who could take out a small army of kobolds on his own. Down went the 16th level fighter. |
