| TheChilliGod10-04-05, 10:53 PM | This is basic stuff. I hope you have a Players Handbook. If you don't, get one. Anyway, the health of a fighter (or any other type of character) depends on what level he is. I hope you know what a level is. Like, um... Pokemon levels. The hit points of a fighter is roughly nd10+n*c, where [n] is the fighters level, [d10] is a ten-sided die and c is a constitution modifier. This means that for every level a fighter has, you roll that many d10 and add that to the level times the constitution modifier (or 'con mod' for short). If your fighter had 5 levels, for example, and a con mod of +3, then you would roll the ten-sided die 5 times, sum up the result, and add 15. (5*3) Mind you, you automatically get the highest roll of the 1st level die roll, in this case, the first die you roll automatically is a 10. Modifiers, as quoted from the Players Handbook, are: "Any bonus or penalty applied to a die roll. A positive modifier is a bonus, and a negative modifier is a penalty." For example, a constitution modifier is added to the dice you roll to determine a fighter's hit points. A skill modifier is added to the die roll (usually a twenty-sided die, in this case) of that particular skill. Okay, I may have utterly confused you even more. If I have, go to your local gaming store (maybe even a regular book store if you're really lucky) and get the Players Handbook. Read it. If your Dungeon Master has one, borrow it. |
