does anyone else think that the way to role height and weight is kinda screwed up in the game? I dont see a human monk being 5 feet tall and 960 pounds! I dont expect a 6'6'' monk to weight 960, which is the max of each. I know it is rare to have people role things like this but I have had a few charachters who get things that just dont make sense if they are excersising to go into a class. Only the magic classes could possilby get a extreamaly overweight charachter, and that also seems rare. If I am the only one then please by all means let me know. So I have decided to work out a new system that determanes weight based off of the height you role (I think the height is decent as it is).

For Human male:

decimal modifier:
Sorcerer: 2d4
Monk: 2d6
rogue: 2d6
Bard: 3d4
Ranger: 3d4
Druid: 3d4
Cleric: 3d4
Fighter: 2d8
Wizard: 2d8
Barbarian: 2d10

take your hieght (d'10'' + 2d10) and multiply it by the number roled then divide it by 10. (H X D/10) After you do that you then readd your height.

some examples:
1: human, male, fighter
Height: 5'6'' or 66''
Decimal Modifier: 7
66 times 7 or 462. Divide by 10, or 46. Add 66, or 112.
2: human, male, fighter
Height: 6'0'' or 72''
Decimal Modifier: 11
72 times 11, or 792. Divide by 10, or 79. Add 72, 151.

You can do some for yourself and see what you think. I think that it works better and you dont get really fat charachters or really skinny ones, it works a little better. I do know that they seem a little small to me, so if you agree with this then I will try to fix it. If anyone would like to see the ones I have created for other races let me know, I have them all made. Also if you could let me know how off you think it is that would be cool. Thanks, Bye.

What you're supposed to do for weight is roll those d-whatevers, multiply the result by the d-whatever result you rolled for the height, and then add that to the base weight.

Edit for clarification: say you rolled X for the height, and Y for the weight.
Character's height = base height + X.
Character's weight = base weight + (X*Y).

For example, I am a Human 1st level _______.

I roll 2d10 for my height. I get a 14.

4' 10'' + 14'' = 6 feet.

I roll 2d4 for my weight. I get a 5.

120 lb. + (14 x 5) = 190 lb.

Yay.

It also says that you can choose your own height and weight...

Ooh! I had a 5' 2" elf that weighed over 300 pounds easy! But then, that was Shadowrun, and that elf had an essence of .01 and a bio-index of yes, so it was more metal than flesh.

Oh rats. I thought that I had come up with something good. Sorry for the stupidity. This is what comes from reading the book once, having a terable memory then just looking at the table. And I thought I was being clever.

Hey, don't let it deter you. We *love* hearing about mistakes in the books. It makes us laugh. Hey, has anyone seen how the example highland stalker doesn't qualify for the class? It requires "Sneak Attack or Skirmish" class feature, but a ranger gets neither. Probably old news, but fun nevertheless. :D

I have a question that in some ways is similar to the subject of this tread..I am trying to make a catfolk from the races of the wild, yet those who made the book forgot to include height, weight, and age of the catfolk...I heard there was something on the wizards site talking about this but I can't find it...

Could always just use your Str, Dex and Con as a foundation for choosing a height and weight...
