| Thorak09-30-05, 10:34 PM | 1> Buy, beg, or borrow a copy of the PHB. 2> Read pages 4-168. That's everything but the Magic section, because monks don't cast, so you can put that off for now. 3> Read pages 133-160 a second time. That's the Combat chapter. I guarantee you missed about half of what was in there the first time, at least, and even this time around you'll miss a lot, but it's a start. 4> Read the character creation sections on elves and monks again. 5> If you still have any actual, specific questions, feel free to ask. D&D is a complex game, and if you're not willing to take the time to learn it, I'm not wasting any more time than I've already spent explaining it to you. It's like a high school student asking someone to explain quantum theory to them. There's a whole crapload of stuff you need to know before it'll make any sense to you. |
| TheChilliGod09-30-05, 11:29 PM | You're saying that you are a first-timer when making a character (maybe even first-timer playing D&D) and your Dungeon Master or the other players aren't helping you with your first character? Jeez, I feel for ya. Okay, once you've done as Thorak said, it may be a good idea to get a 'character sheet' from someone. You can find them on the back of the Player's Handbook (I believe) or download them from this site & print them out. (see the 'Character Sheets' sidebar) If you're running into very simple problems such as, 'How do I find my Strength Modifier?" and your Dungeon Master or another player isn't helping you, first try looking it up from the index of the Players Handbook, and if that doesn't work, I'm sure at least one of us here will be happy to help. |
