| Delanish02-24-06, 07:44 AM | Hey well let me give you a little brief info before i ask my question Well currently i am in collage, and having trouble finding groups or even game times for PNP sessions, it seems they are quite rare in Eastern Canada, I have been playing different of the Wizard based DND Games to replace that (BG,NWN) Well from what i found out i tend to tilt towards non fighter classes in PNP i only had one character, Ogbar Stormhammer Level 4 Dwarf Fighter The short version of his story is his father is a traveling weapon smith and quite a mastery at weapons and Ogbar picked up on quite a bit of this and knows quite a bit on Areas and traderoutes so as long as he stays on path he has an amazing sense of direction (In a middleof a forest ask the druid) I stopped playing Ogbar simply bescause my pnp group broke up and well my party was me and three mages. which really made it diffcult for me, since they got first dibbs on everything (which usually the tank gets first dibs bescause wellhe's keeping the party alive usually) Well Through my (Neverwinter Nights games) [www.bioware.com] I found sorcerer are a bit overpowered though i love mages but besides the specialzation the extra feats and higher DC do wizards have anything over the average sorc, From reading most FR novels (Which yes i know most were before sorcerer's existed as a class) Wizards have seento be the popular even know a days. So What's the difference bewteen the Two Sorcerer and Wizard? and if anyone knows any PNP groups in the Novascotia Area that be nice to :D |

They choose the spells they want on a per day basis, each day they temporarily choose what spells they will prepare in advance for casting. After preparing the spells, the Wizards can cast the prepared spell once that day, unless of course they memorize the spell more than once which will take up a spell level slot. Sorcerors also gain spells as they level up, but since I have never taken an interest in them I do not know if they have a maximum number of spells for each spell level. However, I do know that the spells they choose are more or less permanent: Once they choose a spell, it is on their spell list for pretty much forever. Unless, of course, the Sorceror wishes to forget how to cast that spell and take a new spell of that spell level; but as I have said, I have never taken an interest to sorcerors, and so I do not know how this wiping of the spells they have works. And one more thing, I believe that Sorcerors can cast a known spell any amount of times per day, but I am not sure on that, so could anybody tell me if this is correct or incorrect? Anyways, I'm not sure if this is a bit confusing or not, but I hope it helped. |

They can easily expand their list of spells just by borrowing a higher level wizard's spellbook, at a small price, for a day or two. Wizards also get access to higher level spells a level eariler than sorcerors. Wizards can specialize in one school of magic, by giving up access to 2 other schools of magic. Sorcerors can cast more spells per day, and don't have to prepare their spells for casting, but they can't learn new spells except by leveling up, for the most part anyways. Sorcerors have a greater choice of weapons than wizards. |
