Xill-Lord Psionic Might 05-10-05, 05:13 PM	Okay i just entered a game that has been goning on fora month or so now and the other players told me it been pretty brutal. This is for a Post Apoc Setting, like Mad Max (theres even a barter town) meets, planet of the apes, meets psioncs ....with illithids(conquering over lords) and githyanki (destert raiders) They players have said at 5th level they have already endured fire storms, a waste dragon (apperently a giant fire breating monitor lizard witha spiked tail), being waylaid by desert raiders, and even one charater (the Gith) has battled in the thunderdome. The players have told me tom, the DM is more evil than Orcus, lol. I think party need some fire power with a little extra versitility on the side so this is what im thinking...... Im thinking about playing the Son a of a crystal Dragon so a multi class Sor/Psion.. i will eventually take the ceberalmancer prestige class. any ideas for skill selection, backstory, feats, spell selection, discpline, the party so far is at 5th level and consits of Githyanki Mercenary (phy warrior) Half-Giant raider (barbarian) human drifter (ranger/rouge) Feral Halfling Shamman (druid) Mutant (meadnad wilder)
Derren S. 05-10-05, 05:29 PM	When it is really so brutal I advise against multiclassing casters. Yes, you have a rpg a story and all, but multiclassing casters is really a bad idea. I would focus on either sorcerer or psion.
psionichamster 05-10-05, 05:44 PM	for survivability, i would recommend a gnome/dwarf psion...(extra con = not so easy deaths) 5th lvl psion can do some really fun things... depends on what you want to do blasty? kineticist utility? shaper sneaky/diplomacy? telepath with a psicrystal and good power selection, you can really bring some needed power to the group (heck, even without the psicrystal, you've got plenty of oomph) namaste' the hamster
Vharuck 05-10-05, 06:46 PM	If you want to go into Cerebramancer, it'll already be tough since Metamagic feats don't apply to psionics and vice versa. Try making both classes dependant on the same stat. Like Psion/Wizard or Wilder/Sorcerer. Psionic Body is a feat I love that gives you 2 bonus hit points for every psionic feat you have (and it's a psionic feat). This will rack up if you get enough (and psionic feats rock!). You might want to try getting into the Illithid Slayer PrC later for taking down those evil overlords.
Lincoln Hills 05-10-05, 08:43 PM	You didn't mention what level you were creating the character at. Or what the available races are. I'd avoid the half-dragon concept: sure, it's neat, but you're giving up vital HD and even more vital spellcasting levels to get it. It's a departure from what you had in mind before, but you might consider a psion (or sorceror) with just a level or two of barbarian. Full multi-classing is a disadvantage, as so many folks will tell you. But if you take a level of a warrior-type class, you can get more use out of the touch-range and self-enhancing powers (or spells) of your primary casting class. (And if all else fails, having a Move of 40 means that - even if you can't outrun the menace - you can at least outrun the rest of your party. ;)

Callista 05-11-05, 12:41 PM	Well, with my love of spellcasting and sneaky sort of classes, I've always loved the halfling. That's a personal preference, though. Halflings make good spellcasters; the extra point of AC doesn't hurt and you don't need the weapon damage. The extra DEX and size bonus to hit allow you to be a decent archer when your early level spells run out. Also the class skills come in handy when you need not to be seen; and halflings are more likely to be underestimated, as well, because they're so small. Gnomes are cool, too, but I really prefer halflings... just my opinion.
