jakewoodblues 08-07-05, 11:48 AM	Hey -- I'm new to the forum & to playing Prestige Classes. Currently playing a Dragon Disciple. Got 2 questions: 1) on Prestige classes in general -- after you meet the class requirements, do you take levels as you want, or do you just take levels in the prestige class; 2) on dragon disciples specifically -- when you get a bonus spell, is it just a known spell or is the bonus added to known and castable. tharivol266 08-07-05, 12:17 PM	after u meet the prerequisites u could take 3 levels as dd then 2 more as a sorcerer then the last 7 as a dd or w/e u dont have to take them all as one lump sum.

Pryrates 08-08-05, 01:06 PM	The bonus spell description doest actually specificlly say whether you apply it to spells known or spells per day. My DM has always simply used this the same way that a sorcerer gets bonus spells due to having a high charisma since the DD is pretty much a PrC for Sorcerers (although they work really well if you're a Hexblade too).
Tytalus 08-09-05, 02:42 PM	This is not quite the right board to ask rules questions. Try DM the Rules Counseling board next time. From the SRD: Bonus Spells: Dragon disciples gain bonus spells as they gain levels in this prestige class, as if from having a high ability score, as given on Table: The Dragon Disciple. A bonus spell can be added to any level of spells the disciple already has the ability to cast. In other words, you gain an extra spell slot (and can consequently cast one more spell per day), and do not learn a new spell. Note also that DD does not advance your caster level.

Unless you mean for the bonus spells. You're correct that it doesn't limit which class you can apply it to, but it strikes me as playing rather loose with the spirit of the rules to apply them to druid. That said, the #1 guideline on PrCs is that they are optional and should be customised, so it's entirely possible that your DM has created a DD-equivalent that works for druids.
tharivol266 08-09-05, 09:35 PM	heres a half way related question. in some prc it has the ability +1 spellcasting level does this mean they learn new spells or just have the extra slots and caster level dependent stuff?(like the dice for fireball)
20goingon1232 08-10-05, 12:27 AM	From what I understand from the Mystic Theurge in the DMG, you gain spells known as well. Otherwise, saying that Cle/Sorc is amongst the most common MTs is a bit misleading.....
