Ok, so there is a huge gameing thing going down at the local game store near where I live. I got invited to a 6th lvl game and I have to make a character useing the 27 point buy rules and the money for a 6th lvl character from the DMG. No issue there, My issue is I can't think of something to play.

I dont want to do what I normaly do, Blue light special on human fighters. Even though I have a lot of fun playing them and my best character ever was Percival Dissont who was just a simple human fighter. I know the rules, And i build a MEAN fighter. The thing is I dont want to just do long sword and large steal sheild. I want to do something diffrent. I'm not too keen on magic users personaly, so I usualy stick to things like fighters rogues and swashbucklers.

What I want help with is finding a way to build a 6th level character that has an intresting fighting style that isn't offten seen. Like a 10 rogue/ 4 swash I played once that ONLY used daggers. My party learned to fear daggers after Kuthar the Shive was created. I kinda want to do the same thing here except with another weapon that isn't normaly feared with an intresting way of useing it. Any ideas?

How 'bout Swashbuckler/Rogue/Daring Outlaw (complete scoundrel feat)?

Warblade with a whip, or unarmed?

Whats the daring outlaw from?

Complete Scoundrel. It stacks your Swashbuckler and Rogue levels for certain class features of both (can't get into more details, really ... Code of Conduct and all that).

Does it have to be melee? Maybe try some kind of archer?

There are a lot of options here:

- Highly abidexterous ranger with two rapiers. Try and play a fighter without the strength, his skills based entirely on dexterity. Perhaps even a "Lasher" in time ...
- Dwarven cleric / Dwarven defender / Warpriest. It's strength based fighting without the feats and skills of a human fighter, but with a vast amount of buffs to make up for that.
- Bard (you gotta love 'em). Be the conversationalist ...
- ...

If you have acces to the Complete Divine: Cleric or Cleric/Ranger Archer, using Zen Archery from the Complete Warrior.

"Ehm... why's your archer friend closing his eyes?"
"To see you better."

First off, you need to list what sources you have access too.

2nd off, this thread probably belongs in the char-opt forums, and you need a general idea of what you want the character to do.

My suggestion, if you've always played human fighters, then it's about time you played a spellcaster.

meh. Casters don't do it for me, either.

I would suggest brainstorming a character concept first, and then choosing the build to fit.

Personally, I found Complete Scoundrel a wonderful resource. I've always been partial to sneaky types, and CS describes various ways to build a viable character with roguish flavor regardless of actual class. Skill Tricks (and other "per encounter" abilities) are pretty snazzy.

To me book of nine swords contins pretty much the most interesting fighting styles in the game.

A different fighter?

I like archers myself, I'd like to see a decent crossbow archer myself. It'd be a little worse off than a bow archer but I think the flavor would be worth it.

Why not be a 2-handed raging machine? You could even go a little crazy and make your non-raging self a "Dr. Jekyll" and you raging self a "Mr. Hyde". I think it'd be worth it.

That Zen Archer Doesn't sound like a bad idea and if you wanted to go straight Cleric you could go Elf in some capacity get the longbow prof. and be a cleric of Correllon or some other god of elves or nature.

What about a strong monk with a quatterstaff & Power Attack? Since your gaming event is so huge, I doubt home-brew stuff will be allowed. But just in case it is, buy your monk a quatterstaff that can cast Shillelaugh on itself 3/day...
