| Lardalish12-23-06, 05:53 PM | http://playrpgonline.net/3eprofiler/view.php?id=718 Ok, I like the idea for this character but Im looking for general mistakes I might have made and what I can do to make him better without majorly changing what he is. The setting is typical D&D (no restrictions on races or classes really) but a made up land. Its basically post-apocolyptic because a horde of Demi-God Barbarians had the run of the place for like 2 centuries or something and they have only recently been banished (One of my previous characters fault for the horde... oops!). So everything is pretty mich destroyed, very high magic campaign (apparently there is a story reason for that), and general wastelandish feel to the place. Character rules. *3 books allowed (PHB and DMG count as one (Ive used the PHB/DMG, the Complete Divine, and the Complete Warrior but I could probly be convinced to switch the complete warrior if you have a nice reason.)) *28 point buy system with an extra ability point (so instead of the one you get at 4 we get 2) *Starting at level 6 *20,000 gold, but nothing can cost more than half of that. As for what I wanted, I thought the Stormlord sounded interesting so Im going with that. My PrC wont be changing, so 3 out of my 4 feats wont be changing, but the 4th is still in the air (Ive got Zen Archery at the moment for the javelins). Looking for advice on just about anything, tips, suggestions, you know the drill. If you guys think of any other info you need, just rattle off a request, Ill see what I know! Thanks guys! |

| Lardalish12-24-06, 11:53 PM | sweet, thanks, so far I only have a basic outline for his backstory. Was a sickly child (mostly due to the whole apocolypse-ish thing going on, making medicine and healing kind of rare) and while I was still very young I came quite close to dying, parents prayed to the god, devoted my life to his service if he would spare me (think God of War). So he did so to help balence all the rape/pillaging/razing going on (this god was a character of a friends, and he was all about total balance). So now Im a cleric of his, and using some of the gods powers (the stormlord abilities) inorder to help rectify all the wrongs done by the horde. Still trying to think up a good general personality for him, though I know he's going to be really devoted to the god. |

| Mrloki12-25-06, 03:12 AM | I played a stormlord once, I picked the feat energy substatution out of the complete arcane for a feat. I also went with less armor and more dex. A wand of call lightning was also one of the items I bought! I also see lightning as a very chaotic thing! So I would make my alignment fit that perspective. Every time I played the character I listened to ride the lightning by metallica. Also might want to look into Races of the wild, they have the raptoriens and they have a PrC thats like a stormlord...for higher levels, never looked at the PrC but just know it exists! Also stormlords, are bad ass! So goodluck with yours! :) |

Im thinking that the god not only saved me from dying, but made me more resistant to death in general. To me that explains the high con, the great fortitude and endurance feats, and the high will (to save against magic and stuff). I dunno bout the name, seems to hard. I dunno, just doesnt fit right for me. In response to Mr. Loki- My god is true neutral, so I can pick either Neutral Good, or Chaotic Neutral. Chaotic neutral sounded too selfish, I see this guy as more of a crusader for all that is right. And the only reason he's doing that is because there was so much evil going on for so long, so to tip the scales back towards neutrality I am being used by Gidean (the god) to do whatever good I can, as fast as I can. I do agree with the whole lightning is chaotic deal, and I really wanted to be chaotic good, but the DM said that the only god that had the storm domain was the true neutral guy so I gatta settle with that. Ive got all that armor because I cant get enough dex and still have what I see to be a good skill set. Right now I have what I need for spells, a decent strength for some damage, and high con for hp. And Ive taken Zen Archery (which the more I think about it, the more I like it) to help me hit things (I use my wisdom mod instead of dex for ranged attacks.). So those are my reasons for pickin what I did, sorry if I came off defensive, just thought I better explain myself. Thanks for the tips! Keep em comin! |
| Sarella Starshine12-25-06, 08:05 AM | Well, if he was a sickly child and got better because a god willed him to, he could travel around administering to the sick because he understands their pain and he wants to help them overcome it. He slowly realizes that people are sick because of these hordes and decides to take curing the sick to a different level and to help rid the thing that causes these people to get sick in the first place. The god realizes that you need help with your cause and has blessed you (levels in stormlord) to better help you with your quest. Right there you have a good set up for a devout cleric who is on a personal vendetta against these hordes. Personality could be one of quiet contemplation of your god, but very vocal in your denounciation of the hordes. You will point out to others as often as you can that THEY are the reason behind the world's suffering, and that if people want to get rid of the suffering, they need to get rid of the hordes. You will tend to the sick as much as you are able to when you can, but your focus will always be on the goal of getting rid of the thing that caused the sickness to begin with. |

Ooh, I like this, I think Im going to go with this as a base for the guy. Not sure if Ill write up a nice official story for him, or if Ill just have an outline, but Ill post whatever I get, till then thanks for the tips and advice and such! |
