| TheraerTheWanderingBard08-01-05, 05:40 PM | I was thinking of turning Wolfwood from Trigun into a D&D character, Im thinking that he would be a cleric of a cause...being that he is a priest and that there is no "God" in D&D, but what would his domains be? ... Im a bit confused as to what they would be. as for his weapons i was thinking of having him use a Flaming Burst Repeating Crossbow. Repeating because of his machine gun ness..Flaming Burst to show the rocket launcher part of "cross gun". But aside from that im stumped as to what to give him item wise and feat wise... I thank you in advance |
| EvilDuck08-01-05, 06:00 PM | Eh, Wolfwood isn't a cleric. He's more of a ranger/fighter with ranks in Knowledge(religion)... |
| BeyondFated08-01-05, 06:06 PM | In my opinion, I wouldn't try to convert any Anime characters to D&D. It never ends up well. It will either be too powerful (the machine gun), or it won't feel right (giving him a crossbow instead of a gun). So I'd say that it's a matter best left alone. But, if you're adamant about Wolfwood being in your game, I'm sure someone much more talented than I will stat him for you. |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard08-01-05, 07:23 PM | Eh, Wolfwood isn't a cleric. He's more of a ranger/fighter with ranks in Knowledge(religion)... True...i think ill make him a fighter. As for the using him...i have no intention of using him, i just wanted to see how well i could translate him into a D&D character |
| HappyDragon08-02-05, 03:41 AM | I'd have to agree with EvilDuck here. Wolfwood really isn't a cleric in the terms that DnD represents them as being. Ranger/Fighter could work, but I origially thought Rogue/Fighter when I first saw this thread. He's got far too good a sense motive not to have it as a class skill. Solid bluff and diplomacy to back things up and lest we forget profession (priest). |
| DisposableHero_08-02-05, 11:59 AM | Consider the following: Specific Weapon The Cross-zuka: This +5 Flaming Heavy Repeating Crossbow of Seeking an Distance can be used normally by any character with the proficiency in heavy repeating crossbows despite its unorthodox size and shape. In addition to its function as a weapon the wielder may use it three times per day to launch a fireball (caster level 10). Strong Evocation and Divination, Caster level 15, True Strike, Clairaudience/Clairvoyance, Fireball. Market Price: 134,000 gp For class levels I'd be inclined to agree on the Fighter/Rogue approach |
| bobbilcon08-02-05, 12:56 PM | I would say it would be a ranger\rouge because he had such a good shot almost as good as vashes. I would agree with having skills in sense motive, bluff, deplomacy, knolage religon and the such. For the weapon i would have it as said with the fire ball as the rocket launcher, i would add some kind of speed modifaction the the mg because after all it is a mg. but he did have those 6 colts in the arm. so i would ahve it outfitted with a gnomish divice so when you activate it, it opens the left arm of it and 6 repeting hand crossbows come out. Repeting hand crossbow: like repeting crossbow but the size of a hand cross bow. can be dual weilded. 1d4 or 1d6 damage dm`s choise. You could probaly get a gnome to make larger clips of bolts or somthing like that. |
| Fanged Fremont08-02-05, 01:31 PM | I like the crossbow Dispos, but it should also include no less than 6 (I can't remember the exact number) +3 Self reloading Seeknig Distance Hand Repeating Crossbows in one of the cross' arms. Wolfwood seemed to be able to go into a sort of rage when children were being threatened so maybe he's got a level of barbarian with rogue and ranger levels. But screw all that, I want to know the stats on that guy with the ridiculously long sniper. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland08-02-05, 01:39 PM | Lawful Neutral (moving to good) Rogue or CG Bard (for UMD as class skill) Really, the main things about Wolfwood are roleplaying him and his weapon: Cross Punisher - Large Repeating crossbow - Wand of Fireball attached to the back of the crossbow - The crossbow has compartments within holding four hand crossbows (loaded) |
| DragonDeadite08-02-05, 04:20 PM | .............he was NOT as good of a shot as Vash... no one was as good of a shot as Vash and ANY who say otherwise deserve to get their eyes spooned!!! And on that note... I REALLY could have sword that Wolfwood had two crosses. One that he used when he first appeared that had the guns in the cross and then another one that had a rocket launcher on one end of it and a machine gun on the other... As a matter of fact, it was two seperate guns, watch the anime again if you don't believe me. As to the person that said he went into a frenzy when kids were in trouble, he was the one that SHOT the kid, sheesh!! Okay... I need to stop that. Ranger/Rogue would be my suggestion, centered on the Point Blank Shot feat path, as well as Rapid Reload (not following the path of those super repeating crossbows) and Quick Draw to use with Hand Crossbows as well as a Heavy Repeating Crossbow strapped to his back in the shape of a cross more than a crossbow. As to the repeating Hand Crossbows, I don't think that would really work because part of firing the repeaters is that you have to get the draw strings back with the device and I doubt that a person could do that with a thumb even with a R-Hand crossbow. Just wouldn't seem right, and I'd say it's 1d4 damage if you did go with it because of the fact that the draw string couldn't be as strong. Of course, if you really wanted to go weird, give him a belt that's got like 6 Hand Crossbows, then that combined with the Quick Draw (and leaving them loaded at all times, and maybe sheaths... yes, I've thought about this before!) he could be firing two hand crossbows a round for three rounds before having to drop to his Repeater. And by the gods you had BETTER have him carrying around his mobile confessional!!! And if you use him in a game you had better buy one to keep next to you at all times!! :D |

As a matter of fact, it was two seperate guns, watch the anime again if you don't believe me. It's been a while since I've seen the show, but I'm pretty sure it was all only 1 cross. The right arm of the cross held 6 guns. the left arm probably held ammo, one end was for the rocket launcher, and the other shot the machine gun. As to the person that said he went into a frenzy when kids were in trouble, he was the one that SHOT the kid, sheesh!! Okay... I need to stop that. I was reffering to the quickdraw episode where he oppened the cross and started yelling and shooting all the guys on the buildings who were threatening to kill the mother and son who ran the local restaraunt. He yelled something along the lines of "I will not allow another child to be hurt" or something like that. The barbarian rage idea was just for flavor. Self Reloading is an enchantment in the Arms and Equipment guide that's a +2 in terms of pricing. If you were to rework it so instead of reaching into a dimensional pocket to grab arrows and just used what was in the repeating crossbow clip, you could knock it down to a +1 enhancement, or just say it's some kind of gnomish make that runs off some kind of gem you gotta feed into it or something. |
| DragonDeadite08-03-05, 03:10 PM | Hm... maybe the reloading crossbow would work more along the lines of if reloaded the crossbow from a bag of clips you keep on you, so that when the clips are all gone you have to reload the clips, so that your amo is limited to the number of clips you carry in this bag... that would be pretty cool actualy. Oh, and I know what scene you're talking about. He was a very complicated man! Man... now I gotta go and watch the series again because I could have sworn that when he planted the cross, both arms opened and had guns in them, that point I'm really not sure on, but I'm pretty sure it was two different crosses, you could tell by the way the first cross was solid at the cross-point but the second one had the cross-point as the trigger... Edit: And yes, a level of barbarian would probably be a good idea for him, but only ONE level of brb as I don't see him actualy going too far into that field. |
| DragonDeadite08-03-05, 03:30 PM | HA!! After looking at screen shots I am correct, there are two different guns that he uses. The second gun (machine gun/rocket launcher) has smaller cross arms so they can't have any hand guns in them. Oh, and yes, it seems the first gun did only have guns in one arm. Told you I wasn't sure about that! |

| Flushmaster08-03-05, 04:48 PM | Wolfwood's cross is as described by Fanged Fremont: handguns in one "arm" with a machine gun in the long end and a rocket launcher in the short end. A different cross is wielded by his "mentor" and it breaks apart down the middle to form two large machine guns; it may possibly have something else stashed in the cross arms but I'm not sure. And Wolfwood is the only person who even approaches Vash's accuracy in the series (save Knives, of course). He's still not nearly as accurate as Vash in the "there's no way in hell he could make that shot" situations but in just about any "normal" situation he appears close enough. The only way that most observers would be able to discern who's a faster draw between them would be for them to actually have a quickdraw duel where they're both not holding back, which Vash and his superhuman speed would obviously win (the guy can actually dodge bullets for crying out loud), but otherwise they both move faster than all but the best trained eyes can follow. He isn't really as good as Vash, but he's good enough that he appears to be most of the time. As to Wolfwood's weapon, I'd go with DisposableHero_'s "Cross-zuka" but change the seeking ability to speed and drop the +5 to a +4 if necessary (I can't recall offhand if speed is a +3 or +4 enhancement, it's late). As to class, I'd make him a fighter/rogue. |
