Help me equip my lvl 5 characters, please [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-04-06, 05:27 PM I'm the first to admit that I'm not very good at D&D. I love it, but I'm just not very good. I guess this is where I would ask this. What should I buy for my 5th level characters? I have a little more than 9,000 gp each. I have a cleric, a ranger, a rogue, and a wizard (I'm the only player in this group, my friend is the DM). It's not enough to get what I want, but I don't know what's most important at this level. Please give me a sample list of what would do well at this level for each class or something. Thanks!

PS if I put this on the wrong board, I'm really sorry, but my DM won't give me any hints on what to buy, so I needed to ask someone.

12-04-06, 11:49 PM in the dmg, starting pg113, are tables for NPCS from all of the core classes in the phb at each level 1-20, including suggested equipment. That's a good place to start.

PHBII has much the same thing, as well

I suggest starting with +1 weapons and armor for everyone but the wizard, who should instead get more spells. Get a wand of cure light wounds and/or lesser vigor (Complete Divine). Don't forget other consumables.
