er... alright then...

Ok, well i can only assume this is serious, though judging from the typing you may or may not have some form of difficulty forming coherent sentances, but thats ok, it's probably not your fault that draino looked like coolaid, we understand :P

Seriously though, you just have to choose a class you like, choose a race you like, and then put the stats where you think you need them (though the Players Handbook does give you some good ideas about where to put your best and worst stats if you don't really know yourself)

That's about it really, the rest is fairly self explanitory

OK, I'm going to explain this very slowly.

Step 1: roll four six-sided dice. Write down all but the lowest number, then add the remaining dice. repeat this process another five times. When you are done, you should have a total of six numbers.

Step 2: Think about what you want your character to do, for instance, do you want to be a spell slinging mage, or a fighter type? A divine spellcaster, or a crafty rogue? Also, think about what race you want your character to be, think of how it might interact with the race you are choosing, or you could just choose one at random, this is your character, so any combination is OK.

Step 3: After contemplating which race you should pick, pick one. Then add any racial ability modifiers to your abilities, write down their special qualities on your character sheet.

Step 4. Now, its time for you to finally add the class into the mix, since your starting at first level, find the hit-dice of your class, add that entire number to your hit points, then add your constitution modifier to your hit points. Write down your base attack bonus on your character sheet. Write down your base saves, and the ability modifiers for each of those saves. Write down all of your class abilities (cleric you would write down turn undead).
If are a spell casting class, figure out your spells per day, and the spells you would have prepared/known. You can figure out the spells per day by looking at the table included in the class, then looking at the table in the front of the book for the number of bonus spells you would have for having a high ability tied to spellcasting. Pick out your spells known/ per day out of your classes spell list, found in the last chapter of the PHB.

Step 5: Choose your skills and feats. If a feat has a prerequisite (eg. dex 13+) you must meet it before you can select the feat. Unless you are playing a human or a fighter, you gain only one feat at first level. Now, its time for skills, there should be very simple instructions for how many skill points you gain in your class description (it should be within a few paragraphs of where you found your hit die.) If you are a human, add 4 to this number. You may purchase ranks in a skill for you based on the large table found at the begining of chapter four. If a large dot is present, you may purchase ranks with your skill points on a 1:1 basis, to a maximum of four ranks. If the skill has a little dot instead of a large dot, you must spend skill points for ranks on a 2:1 basis, up to a maximum of 2 ranks.

Step 6. Turn to chapter six in the players hand book, and choose an alignment, and, if desired, a diety. Find your characters starting age, weight, and height, based off of these tables.

Step 7. You have completed creating your character! Revel in victory, the dancing is optional.

EDIT: Sorry this post took me so long to write, I did not get to see the comments you wrote before since you don't have the PHB, you either borrow it from a friend or buy one.
You should also pick character sheets here: http://www.unc.edu/~murphy/mad_irishman/pub_dnd.html#3e_sheets_225

As a very poor substitute for the PHB, I can point you in the direction of the SRD

The foremost thing to do when making a character is asking the DM.

Step 1. Buy the Player's Handbook or Download the SRD.

Step 2. Read it.

Step 3. Re-read it.

Step 4. Try to make a character using only the PHB.

If you cannot do that, then come back for more help.

Also, please do not write as if you were a retarded monkey. Make vague attempts to use grammar and the like. We're more likely to treat you with some respect.

Use it as a reference. It has all of the basic information (stat blocks, race and class descriptions, and all of the important numbers you need to succeed!)

1. STOP spamming the board. Edit your post, don't make another!

2. If you are this new to the game, and you can't figure it out yourself, find someone in real life to help you. Your DM, for example.

Isn't it funny how the OP is asking the *one thing* integral to dnd that ISN'T in the SRD, and thus, free (with the exception of xp/wealth tables and cr tables, but they're for the dm, and (s)he is a player.)

grungni, I can't decide whether you're a troll or whether you simply don't know how message boards work. This is not the type of question you ask on this board. This is the type of question you ask your DM or a fellow player, okay? :)

Why is everyone so sweet for this person. Obviously, he is either screwing around, plain stupid or too lazy to read more than five words from a book. In the first case, he should be bashed by verbal violance, repeatingly. In the second case, the person who ever gave him a pc with internet connection should die...quickly. In the last case, he shouldn't even play D&D or hang around on message boards but watch television (with shows only in his native language) and move as little as possible.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's against the CoC to accuse someone of trolling, so I'm going to assume you're not.

You should really ask your DM about this. That's all the advice I have. Ask your DM to help you. That's his/her job.

Also, if you honestly intend to continue using the message boards, please try to type in complete sentences.

Stop being cruel!

we were all newbies once.

To answer your qustion,

Yes. You get to chose your starting equitment (you stil have to have the gold to afford it though..) but the DM can call you on any he finds inapropriate.

You also have to make sure you can use the weapons and armor that you buy. Fighters for example can use any armour, however rouges cannot.

I'm jut goign to have to echo the other guys here, buy the players handbook. It explains everything far more clearly than any of use can hope to and the SRD is in my opinion, rubbish.

Best of luck, and with a bit of luck you sohuld be on your way to discovering a wonderful new pastime and hobby. May the gods guide your hand, brave adventurer!
