SongOfWolf 01-25-05, 12:12 PM	Hello! I am new to the RPG world and need some help please. My boyfriend and his friends have been playing/DMing for over 20 yrs. and I am now playing in my 1st campaign. Campaign setting is--- 1000's of yrs ago all races were at war and the demons/critters that were summoned decided they liked it here and rufused to leave...all races then came together to fight "the common enemy"...after yrs of peace conspiricies are abounding and Gods are up to their usual stuff again! My boyfriend is DM'ing and i chose to play a Drow(me FAV!! race) rogue. After realizing we had NO magic users in party, his friends convinced me to multiclass to a rogue/cleric. His best friend is a loud-mouthed know-it-all who is CONSTANTLY using player knowledge(which ruins the monsters 4 me GRRRR!) who claims that he is the best and NO ONE can get him (especially not a NEWBIE FEMALE..GRRRRRRRRRRR!) So, i came up with my charecter was kidnapped and replaced by her evil twin sister(hee-hee) who happens to have a birthmark that legend states makes her Queen of the Drow!! His best friend has NO CLUE!!!!! he keeps professing that it is a good thing i'm not playing a TRUE DROW cuz i would never be able to pull the evil off (hee-hee). All the other charecters are now entering prestige classes. Here is where i need help! I do not have anything that gives me handle animal so i cannot go with the Arachne PrC, and my b/f will not let me change any of my skill ranks(even though they neglected to mention prestige classes when we began playing..GRRRRRRR!) I have not found in the books that we have anything that suits a rogue/cleric who worships Lloth but has been granted by Lloth the right to PRETEND to be a cleric of Olidammara. Any suggestions?? I REALLY REALLY want to get his best friend!! Looking forward to the day it all comes out and he looks at me and says " you Biotch" hee-hee! Oh yeah my charecter is currently seducing his monk cuz my b/f incorporates chance of pregnancy in his campaigns(hee-hee)! I apologize for any names i misspelled! Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! Thanks!
danielinthewolvesden 01-25-05, 12:39 PM	Well, since you are new, I will point out to you that being a "PK" (Player Killer)is often considered a mortal sin, and will get you ostrazied from some gaming groups. Now, if you are playing in a kind of campaign where PKing is common and acceptable, that's different. But in general it's not. You also need to be careful as "the DM's girlfriend"- sometimes the other players will resent you and think you are gtting special stuff for being that. My suggestion is to ditch the whole "evil twin" idea for this time around, and learn a bit from playing and watching. This is your first game, after all. OTOH, that player who is Metagaming Monster Knowledge should have the DM chide him for it. There are Knowledge skills that allow you to know a lot about the Monsters (and a few real Common things can be "Common Knowledge", sure). Thus, the fact that the Player is using his Monster Knowledge is a form of cheating.
dragonchic1500 01-25-05, 12:44 PM	I don't know how many levels of what you have, but if you take 1 level of fighter that will give you all the Handle Animal you need and a bonus feat. You have to be careful about XP penalties though. As far as the jerk who is metagaming, one of my groups used to have that problem. So the DM enacted a rule, metagaming = XP loss. The guy finally figured it out and hasn't metagamed since. If you are serious about playing, I would suggest you find a different group that is starting at level 1, that way you can get the feel for the character and have time to research the Prestige Classes so you can get what you need.
SongOfWolf 01-25-05, 01:01 PM	tyvm 2 both of u for your comments....i am also playing the "good" twin on non-game nights...this is to be my charecter after we all meet up...once we meet up my b/f is taking over the evil twin but he wonts me to play her right now to get his friend and her really close so when he takes her over he can really sock it to his friend..he is not planning on killing him just teaching him a lesson!!
Kratch 01-25-05, 01:24 PM	Not sure how easy it will be to qualify (the 2 feats needed are not common so you'll likely need them both, but you could aim for black flame zealot. It's evil. It's cleric/rogueish. It's got death attack and poison use.
AerisHope 01-25-05, 02:10 PM	i can understand where you are comming from, i've been there and done that. my now ex-boyfriend got me into playing with his friends. and i was one of two girls, and the other was just as new, only not the DM's gf. that makes it really hard on you. i wish you the best of luck. and i know the drive to get even must be high, but try not to go there yet. just enjoy playing, and maybe not help him when he needs it or something. that's what i did. and since you are a drow, totally legal. at least as far as i know.
Board_Rider 01-25-05, 02:30 PM	As far as Handle Animal you could cross-class that skill. Or take a class that offers that. When dealing with the Metagamer it is better to do that out of game. Not in character. Imagine you lose....then the problem simply grows. How many people are playing in your group? How do they feel? Thats GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRReat!

There are 2 others playing...the metagamers sister and his other best friend...they think it is absolutely great! He is known for pulling tricks and backstabs(giving party members pie made with meat HE posioned) in ALL campaigns that he plays in....him and i get along great i dont want any misconceptions about that...it is just that he is the ultimate prankster and when someone does get him he laughs and gives them their kudos...it is just that he knows that i am new and very shy in real life so he doesnt think i will do anything....there is NO intention of killing his charecter...all the party knows that she has an evil twin he just doesnt know about the switch...when they meet up there is going to be a brief battle and then my b/f is going to take over the "evil" twin and flee..i will then be playing only the "good" twin......i just wanted to make her really cool so that after she flees and he is told her stats he will say OOOOOOOOOOK yep she is a newbie female but she has a head on her shoulders!
Board_Rider 01-25-05, 04:12 PM	As long as his style of play doesn't bother anyone then great. However I think the point that you are trying to make is going to be moot if he ALWAYS plays his characters that way. If you want a pat on the back and "kudos" from him then great. But I don't think that the scenario will prove anything...I guess you may get the respect you want but there are other ways than this setup. To be honest this "metagamer/trickster" would really wear on me. The occasional funnyman is fine but if, as you say, all of his PC's are this way, well, to me, that isn't great roleplaying. But I digress..if everyone is having fun then THAT is the most important. Curious. What are your ages or the average age of this group? Maybe I am just old....
