i've been dming a campaign for the first few adventures. and my friend wants to dm a few so im gunna make a character.
the party consits of:
minotaur barb
human druid
elf rougue
and maybe one other person might join soon.
i was thinkin about being a cleric but i kinda want to play something else. i dont know. i made a class and was thinking about that. its in my sig if u want to look. but any suggestions on what i should be.
p.s. i dont know many classes outside the PHB so if you do say one could you possibly provide a link if you can.
thanks

My suggestion besides the cleric would be sorceror or wizard for some arcane magic in the group.

I agree. You're clearly lacking a healer, but the druid can at least lend a hand. Arcane power, on the other hand, is suspiciously missing. You could try to fill in there.

I'm doing that for my current party as a warlock. I fear a sorcerer could better fill the role of "field artillery," but I'm pretty handy when the occasional magic item or arcane mystery pops up.

im not familiar with the warlock. but i guess i could be a sorc or wizard. the only reason im not so excided about being a sorc is because im playing one in another campaign but if it would help then i'll do it.

Wait, you're playing in more than one campaign? With the same people or a different group?

the same people are in the other campaign but theres a diff DM and more players in the party. the only reason we started this one though is because the DM to the other one went back to collage with our char sheets. so we are doin this one in the meantime.

I should hope you're planning better in this campaign. You know that no one else intends to follow the rules, so you would be wise to go nuts with the rule breaking.

Have you looked into more interesting races? Chances are, your group has no clue what level adjustment and racial hit dice are.

i dont beleive they know about racial hit die. and since im mostly dming this one i dont want to break the rules that much. but in my other campaign i will:D

But if your friend starts running it, you might just see it slide back into the idiotic chaos that is your other campaign.

Then again, maybe you set a good example?

you might want to try a fighter/wizard combo (prc into eldritch knight or the like), they are a very unique play experience, alot of fun IMO.

hopefully i set a good example because i play by the rules and i mean theres a few i dont like but its not that big of a deal like adjusting the price of things or have like a masterwork weapon cost double so it also adds to damage. but i will not let pretty much my campaign turn into a rule breaking frenzy.

mage armor is just as strong as a chain shirt. or you could have a mithril chain shirt (mithril makes it 0%). that prc specifically is in the DM guide, but there are a handful of others, try looking through complete warrior and complete arcane if you own them.

i was thinking about doing the fighter/wizard and the prestige classing into a spell sword. Any thoughts?

I recommend Abjurant Champion from Complete Mage. Persistent Shield!

If you are in Eberron, look into the Knight Phantom prestige class from Five Nations instead of EK in case you like it better.

If you are in Faerun, check out the Militia backround feat if you want to get rid of your fighter level(s) for more casting. Good luck!
