| Lion Falcon Monk04-26-04, 08:38 PM | I just bought D&D 2 days ago and i have 2 huge questions on it First can i use my lion falcon monk even though its my first game and his level is 8? or do i have to start with a level 1 monster? Second is what do the points on the back of the D&D character sheets stand for? my monk says 10 points on it what does that mean? PLEASE AWNSER ME SHORTLY THROUGH E-MAIL * my e-mail is: Legolas329@hotmail.com * |
| Eldren04-26-04, 09:04 PM | Errr, first off, what is a Lion Falcon Monk? I initially thought you might have been referring to one of the Monk fighting styles from Unearthed Arcana, but I couldn't find any reference to something called "Lion Falcon" in there. Then I took a look in The Complete Warrior, but likewise couldn't find anything in there. I don't know what those points are about, unless they're leftovers from a point-buy system. We're lacking some details here which might help us to help you. Finally, what level your character is, in terms of "appropriateness", depends mightily on what level of encounters the Dungeon Master is putting you through. If you're an 8th level Monk, then facing off against CR 1 ("level 1") creatures wouldn't make much sense; you're not going to get much in the way of XP from them, and you're going to beat them far too easily. If you can, provide us with some more details of what you're talking about, and you can probably get more concrete help from there. |
| Korhal IV04-26-04, 09:23 PM | Oh boy, he's using DDM figures to play regular D&D. :embarrass: Did you buy the core rulebooks or just DDM figures? Hint: the first is a bunch of multi-colored books, the second is a big box of plastic figures. If you got the box of figures, you are playing D&D Miniatures, which has its own forum below this and its own set of instructions that should have come in the big box labeled "entry pack." If you bought the core rulebooks, you need to open up to chapter one and start reading from there. That will answer 95% of your questions. |
| Edymnion04-26-04, 09:32 PM | Oh yeah, you are really mixed up. The miniatures are not D&D. They are essentially a board game based off of D&D. You don't use those silly little things in the normal game (well, you can use the actual plastic things to represent your character on a map so you can see where everybody is, but you don't use any of that card info at all). You need books, and dice to play D&D, not little plastic people. If your DM is experienced, you need to go have a talk with him. If he's as new at this as you are, then we've got a LOT of work to do. |
| Nom04-26-04, 09:34 PM | Try asking in the D&D minatures boards. This is for the Role-playing game, which is similar to the minatures game but uses a different (and more complex) ruleset. |
| Iron Chef Vastrox04-27-04, 12:55 PM | I still want to know: What the heck is the Lion Falcon Monk? There's a lot of slightly unorthodox miniatures, but... ??? |

I am sure that someone who just got into the Game 2 DAYS Ago would know exactly where to post appropriately and already have a couple of thousand post on the Boards. Sometimes its fun to feed the trolls:angel: |
