The party:
Nezumi (ratling (OA)) two handed weapon fighter type - lvl5
Gnome - illusionist/cleric crossbowist - lvl6
human - rogue - bow/short sword - lvl 5
dwarf - two weapon fighter - level5
monkey-race (oa) -- sorceror/rogue - level 3

Setting : OAish place

Background ... we were tasked with going to a temple area, getting some background information. Tthen going back to the main town to get reinforcements. There are 4 temples here (one to each of the elements)

We bypassed the easy temples, and found the hardest one (one we needed to see for different reasons). Temple head cleric and 4 body guards found us wandering around in the plains approaching the temple. Offered to take us back and convert us. We refused / attacked and killed the 9th level cleric and bodyguards (almost lost 3 people). Looking back, party should not have ignored the warning/hints the GM was tossing, but ... it happens.

Current situation:
All spellcasters are out of spells. We are all healed up (within 4 hps). We have 2 wands of (partially used) cure light wounds, assorted potions, and assorted scrolls. We tossed the bodies on our cart and started heading towards the river. Rogue is looting as fast as possible, looking for anything we can use.

Goal:
We need to somehow survive long enough to reach the other side of a river 6 miles away. Between us and the river are assorted peasants / low level flunkies. Between us and the temple is a horse sized fire being running towards us. In the sky are quite a number of flying beasts that will shortly swoop in for the attack. Everything will reach us before we reach the river.

Current plan:
Use ranged weapons on any/all things approaching us, and hope and pray. Keep near the wagon and have cleric use the wand to keep us standing.

Alternate plan:
Dress in temple priests full plate mail, and attempt to bluff (our god has chosen us to replace the old priestess)

Alternate Alternate plan:
Send the nezumi with portable wealth, run to river, drink potion of water breathing, and hide out -- letting the other team members die (but avenge their deaths). Character is CN. Everyone else role up new characters.

Need more info here. Are you guys evil? Are the clerics evil? Why, exactly, did you decide to fight these people?

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest surrendering. Seems unlikely you'll survive a fight, and also unlikely you'll be able to avoid one.

My suggestion:

Dress up as the cleric, bluff your way out of the peasant's way, keep to the wagon using the ranged weapons and spells as much as you can. Use the cure wands as much as possible, protection from elements when the fire thingy catches up, and if you can try to get into the water when he does.

Dress up as the cleric, the rouge should have enough bluf ranks to convince those low levle flunkies to atack that infidel fire thinkgie if they want their god to not smite them. Maybe they can't kill him but they might keep him of your tail long enough for you to get avay, maybe you could even get saome horses from the pesants. Don't forget to look powerfull and stuf. Oh yeah and pray, pray a lot than pray some more. Good luck and may your bluff rols be good

At level 5? No way. That's at least a bonus of 30, more likely more, to their Sense Motive. If the rogue rolls a 20 and the peasants roll a 1, there is a small outside chance it could work if the rogue is the most convincing level 5 character ever.

You're asking them pretty much commit suicide via a not-in-the-least credible lie.

uhhhmm for what? Coming up on a group of low level flunkies and saying: "I am a cleric from the temple zou are serving. Help me defet my foes and I will reward you. Here have 50gp tht is more then you make in a month. Goodbay and thank you for all the fish."

If the DM feels that the guy has a above avrage stas that is a bonus of -1 for wis and a +5 for not seeing the guy before, now lets asume the rouge has a maxed out bluf and a +1 charisma thats a +9. It is a good, one thez will have to take anz ways if they don't think of atacking and with 4 hp....

#1: Suicidal.
#2: Not very credible (given that these people probably recognize the nature of the attackers if they are that close to the temple, in particular).

Factor #1 being dominant. A peasant/flunky trying to take on a "horse sized fire" (Large Fire Elemental, probably - CR 5 by itself) and a bunch of flying enemies has to expect to die doing it.

The Bluff you're trying to make amounts to "kill yourself for me." That's an Epic DC.

To explain more ...

The temple we are around, is the temple of fire ... all the peasants / low level flunkies around work for the temple. Very very hard to believe us, if we say that our god (the god of fire) wants a fire creature killed...

We are not worried about the flunkies / peasants -- our party can trounce them, it is combat against lots of them that we are concerned about, especially the flying creatures / fire thing (we ended last session before learning more about it).

Additionally. during the fight, the cleric tossed off two flame strikes, which is why everyone is coming to investigate ....

Our wagon moves at 20ft ... this means that we cannot make it to the river (6 miles away = 3-4 hours) before they come to attack us.

Methinks that if we live, we will need more wands of cure wounds ...

You say the flunkies you will trounce easily? Then do so, and steal their horses. Grab whatever wealth you can carry, and haul butt (don't want to be censored  ) Use the bodies of the dead flunkies, dress them up as priests/you guys (if possible), and then make it look like they're driving the wagon; one guy in the front with the reins, a few guys sitting in the back. It will at least make the fire beast and flying beast waste time tearing it apart; after all, it's the wagon it's after, since that's where it thinks you guys are.
