Help with a Bard/Barbarian Drow [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-03-06, 06:55 PM ok, our Friday Night game is for our advanced players, mainly the rule mongers and those that are best at the indepth roleplaying.

anyways, we're playing an evil campaign, in which we are all drow, brothers none the less looking to try to up our familys standings in the eyes of the ruleing houses of Menzoberanzan in the Forgotten Realms.

Now we come to my situation, im playing the 3rd eldest of the 4 of us (i cant remember our exact born numbers inside our family, but...) and im play a Gestalted Bard/Barbarian. We are all playing Gestalted characters. What my problem is, ive never played a Bard before, Barbarian neither but they arent too hard to play. Sofar, my hardest part is the roleplay side of a Bard in a Drow campaign. How exactly do i play a Chaotic Evil Bard? My plan was to go into the local bar or what not, DM said it was closer to a strip club type thing but whatever, and to basicly sing or perform and distract the patrons while my Monk/Rogue brother picks all thier pockets or something, however, i dont really see that happening until either im much higher level (so fascinate is a little more reliable/functional) or im not in that kind of bar. I mean, who wants a bard singing when their are girls dancing... id probably get a few knifes attention atleast. =(

so any help would be greatly appreciated. im almost considering dropping the bard side of my gestaltness and picking something more barbarian orientated. My personal play style is to play some sort of Divine spell caster (Druids and Clerics are my personal faves) Unfortunetly the only way our group is gonna allow a divine type in is to be female, as per Lolth's standings. I can probably play a Female, but in a group of 5 guys 20 - 40 in age thats not the best thing to try, specially my being the youngest of the lot, along with the least RP experienced.

anyways, if anyone can help with advice or ideas id greatly appreciate it.

And beeing evil as you are, Im thinking grim detailes of battle, slaughter, and after-fight torture. The adiance shocked, horrified, but still strangly facinated with the meer terror of the stories you tell.

I mean, why do you think that people go see horror-movies ;)

The chaotic side of him could be played out when you re scaring the ladies, and some goody-two-shoes fun-spoiler tells yoou to mind your mouth, and you reply by nailing his hand to the table, and ending your tale with "...and how delightful they screamed" :eek:

A formian or something huge like that hit me with a gargantuan club or something, basicly he smashed me to the ground then my body was smeared all over his weapon, maybe my companions will get a damage reduction for a few hits as my body breaks apart... lol ohwell

03-03-06, 11:03 PM There are other gods of the Drow, especially in the Forgotten Realms, who are male and would take male clerics. There's Ghaunadar, who has something to with slime, and there's Vhaeraun, who is stealthy and specifically represents Drow males, and there's Selvetarm, who represents Drow warriors, including Barbarians.

Bards are as mercurial as rogues. The Performance skills you select go a long way toward shaping your bardbarian (sic). Take a few moments to consider: are you a raging maniac who waxes poetic off the battlefield, or a smooth talker with a nasty temper?

03-04-06, 12:22 AM thus far i had been playing a rageing mad house, i had taken extra rage and reckless rage as my feats up to that point.

ya, there are other drow gods but we had decided something or another about in Menzoberranzan Lolth being the only god that can be worshiped in the open, so, playing a male cleric secretly worshipping another diety is ok, until im seen casting a spell ... then they'd get mad at me for not following Lolth and what not.

Anyways, my new character is a Female Drow Favored Soul / (UA Varient with Complete Warrior Varient twist) Paladin of Slaughter.
I say all the varients because the UA for the Pal of Slaughter and the Complete Warrior for the none spell casting paladin class, as we, being the first Gestalt only game, decided that two spell casting classes are too powerful.

So, now im effectively a Cleric (with Sorcerer style casting) with an Evil Paladin's mentality.

my Stats are as follows:
STR:18 (17 with +1 Stat) HP= 38
DEX:17 AC=19 = 10+4+2+3 (base+Armor+Shield+Dex)
CON:14 BAB=4
INT:16 Fort = 11
WIS:13 Ref = 12
CHA:20 Will = 10

Any advice on this turn of events?

03-04-06, 04:21 AM You are the perfect spy-infiltrator.

With the cantrip minor disguise self (from one of the faerun books) you can change the color of your skin and hair, so you can look as a regular elf for an hour by casting, learn common and elf and so you can enter any tabern of faerun without troubles, combined with ocult aligment and glibness you will be imposible to be called a drow.

Also, disguise it is bard class skill, so isnt hard to use cosmetic for looking as a regular elf without magic involved, just keep clothes that covers all your body and wear gloves.

An evil bard it is played as an evil mastermind behind the scenes, you never fight reveal your true nature unless there is not other way. Use charm/sugestion/dominate spells to manipulate people and then use songs to bost them.

I would recomend you to build two alter egos, you will have your real id. only know by your brothers; an elf personality that will act for obtain information or misleading and a battle personality when you have to do the dirty job so you never will be saw doing anything wrong while being an elf and can ever bluff those who have just tried to kill you.

a drow bard it is a wonderful rpg experience because you have the chance and the tools for playing as a con artist able to fool a king´s wizard.
