| Superbeast05-30-07, 12:30 AM | Hello, I was wondering how to make the most powerful rakshasa ranger that I could, ergo I was messing around trying to get the best dexterity modifier possible so that weapon finesse would be the most useful. If I were to bite (and since unarmed attacks are light and weapon finesse affects light weapons) then would I use my dexterity modifier instead of my strength modifier when biting or clawing? In addition, is there some way to add magical effects to claws or fangs, such as vorpal? If not, could you coat said claws or fangs in metal and enchant the metal? Would that technically count as unarmed and/or would it change the damage in any way? Thank you for your time. |

Magic fang and a couple magic items are the only way to enchant natural attacks. Are you taking archery or TWF? If your building a TWF ranger, don't take weapon finese, the major advantage of Ranger TWF, is they can take the proper feats without the required dex, and you'll do a lot more damage maxing out str. If your building an archery ranger, don't take weapon finese, your better off taking archery feats. |

DM approval will likely be needed, as the flavor says you're a gladiator in Thay (wow, what a shocker) from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. You need to be chosen by a Red Wizard (likely with a connection to the Zulkir of Transformation) to enter. And even then, your "owner" could call you back to duty. Plot hook. |

Also, I should have placed this in the Epic Level part of the forum, but it does deal with character creation. You will die. Rakshasa have such a high LA that your HP will suck and you will die. Unless some spell that has effects by Hit Die does not kill you first. Nevermind then. The health isn't too low, actually it is rather high (but that might be because of the epic level). I think that I'll keep it though, since I have the weapon finesse that means that I apply my dexterity bonus to attack rolls, right? My dexterity bonus is +18, so that means that I have a 1 out of 20 chance of not making a critical. If my weapon is vorpal, then odds are that I'll take care of it in one hit, unless I come across anything like an Ooze. It's a shame that you can't enchant claws, or at least coat them in metal and enchant the metal. I'm using the archery track. Thank you all. |
