| Jirin12-19-06, 11:21 PM | Now, our DM is making a special little house rule. He stated that if we can competently roleplay a backstory on how we obtained an item (magical to custom items) we can have that item as long as we agree on the parameters. Now, here is my conundrum. It does not revolve around roleplaying the backstory of the item, but in actually choosing the item itself. In actuality, I'm passed the deadline. However, since I have helped everyone else with their characters and I missed today's session finished mine, I've been given until 1 hour through tomorrow's session to think of this item. Now, this is my first Bard ever. This includes stuff like NWN, BG and the like. Being as I wanted a more, unique experience, she's basically built on the roleplaying aspect. My feats I've chosen increase various skill checks, my sole 18 was placed in charisma, and my 7 was placed into strength. Actually, let's get my stats here... STR - 7 DEX - 17 CON - 14 INT - 16 WIS - 12 CHA - 18 Now I'm rambling and getting off topic. I need an item that would help my bard. Some suggestions I got from players were; -Bladed Flute (+ to Perform flute applies to, and 1d6 damage) -Magical Instrument (+5-10 to whatever Perform it applies to(DM suggested this, actually.)) -Book of Songs (DM never commented on this when it was recommended. Basically it allowed me to use the different bardic songs at a lower level then actually needed. In other words, means I probably won't be using this) However, I need some suggestions because I'm completely inexperienced at playing Bards. Oh yes, Neutral Evil, Human Female. ((Apologize for bad grammar, as I had typed this this morning when I was tire. Also, if this is in the wrong section, I'll close ASAP.)) |
| DwarvinJedi12-19-06, 11:23 PM | Could you tell us more about the bard? |
| JasonOrlandoHawk12-19-06, 11:26 PM | Gypsy's Outfit: Enchanted to work like a vest of escape and provide a circumstance bonus on Perform (Dance) checks. |
| Jirin12-19-06, 11:30 PM | Her name is Vaala (Vae-ah-la), and is generally the kind of deceitful get what she wants person. Using her incredibly good looks and great speaking skills, she has been noted as a seductress of sorts. If by skills, she's focused on bluffing, hiding, stealing, and pretty much having her way with people. She has a +10 in Bluff, as well as +8/+7 in many skills revolved around gathering information, deceit, and stealthliness. Right now she has 8 ranks in perform (Sing) but the DM said I can change it to what I want if I choose an instrument. I need a bit more clarification on what you mean by telling you more about the bard. |
| KurenaiYami12-20-06, 02:31 AM | Bagpipes of the Damned from Libris Mortis. No real reason, just it has the greatest name for a magical instrument ever. Ever. |
| Cintra12-20-06, 02:55 PM | Hat of Disguise (to let you change your appearance, and the appearance of your clothes, any time you want). My advice is to stick with Singing. You can Sing to use your bardic music while fighting, but it's really hard to swing a sword and play a lute at the same time. |
| High Octane12-20-06, 06:58 PM | I dont recall the same, but there is a mask in complete adventurer. Its like a hat of disguise, but also provides nondetection and a bonus to bluff checks. |
| UnrelentingHoror12-21-06, 06:04 AM | Hmmmm *scratches chin* Ahaaa! The Lute of Pandemonium! Its made of demon bones and specially keyed to the plane of pandemonium so that it allows you to let forth the discordant wailings of said plane from the instrument. Think an electric guitar but you can go even further into realms nigh unearthly. What does it do you ask? Well work out with your gm different levels of perform you need to access various spell like abilities as uses of your bardic music for the day. Make sure the levels are appropriate for the spell levels though. Some suggestions are: doom, scare, confusion, song of discord, word of chaos, blasphemy, shout, etc.... for save DCs I'd stick with as if you'd actually cast it though. |
