| Tiny Fists of Death03-13-05, 04:10 PM | I recently lent my DMG to a friend, and was wondering if anybody had a link to a page with the LA tables/pages/info. |
| Argent03-14-05, 12:18 AM | There's a little info found in the online 3.5 System Refrence Document (SRD). You can find it at www.opengamingfoundation.org. There are other sites that have the SRD in an HTML format, but I don't remember them offhand. A google search might pick them up though. |
| Colmarr03-14-05, 01:32 AM | Exactly what info were you after? |
| Insane Pixie03-14-05, 12:35 PM | Exactly what info were you after? Basically, what raises and lowers LA. |
| Colmarr03-15-05, 02:32 AM | I'm not sure if we are on the same track here. LA is not raised or lowered, it is assigned. If you receive a template or If you play a suitably powered race (whether it be a Hobgoblin or a Guardinal), you are given a LA. There are no real general rules for assigning LAs. They are by-and-large a design decision. If you are referring to the page that deals with the effects of having an LA, I don't have my books on me and can't help too much. I can however give you the following summary: If a character has a LA, their ECL (effective character level) is calculated as follows: Class HD + Racial Hit Dice + LA. For the purposes of experience and treasure, the creature is treated as having character levels equal to its ECL. So a Vampiric Troglodyte Fighter 4 is ECL 16 (4 for Fighter levels, +2 for racial HD, +2 for Trog LA, and +8 for Vampire LA). It should have equipment or treasure suited to a 16th level character, earns experience as a 16th level character, and gains a level only when it reaches sufficient experience to reach 17th level. Hope that helps. |
| Insane Pixie03-15-05, 11:50 AM | We are very much not one the same page. We're in a different freaking book. LA is assigned. Yes. My thing is, the table(s) that say, "Small size, LA -1" and "Flight, LA +1" |
| Nom03-15-05, 06:00 PM | We are very much not one the same page. We're in a different freaking book. LA is assigned. Yes. My thing is, the table(s) that say, "Small size, LA -1" and "Flight, LA +1"Such a table is not in the DMG, which only discusses the effects of LA, not how to calculate it. Try "Savage species". |
| Colmarr03-15-05, 08:58 PM | Ah, I see. You want to design a race/creature and figure out what its LA will be? If so, then Savage Species is what you'll need. As Nom correctly pointed out, there is no such information in the DMG. |
