| Earl Power10-11-05, 04:16 PM | Hey guys....im having trouble coming up with a viable character for my upcoming game....my current idea is maybe going with paladin/sorcerer multi-class of torm or even just a straight battle sorcerer. here's the important information: level: 1 books: pretty much any except the complete series but i suppose i could get hold of them if necessary campaign setting: forgotten realms alignment: good or neutral current party: paladin 1 and mage 1 race: muct be human random information: i am a noble so bear that in mind stats rolled: 16 15 14 13 9 7 now bear in mind guys, im not NECESSARILY interested in pure power (hence me posting here rather than on CO boards) but im not adverse to having a tough character as long as the concept interests me ! so please help me out guys :) |

Then roll an appropriate die. Do the same for races, and, viola, you have a template to put a personality to. This is the method I recommend for new players after they turn white trying to consider all of the choices for the first time. Good luck! :D |

The other two basic groups are support magician, and sneaky (rogue or ranger). Can't go wrong with a cleric or druid, or a bard. As a noble, cleric probably makes the most sense. |
| Antmanbrooks10-12-05, 02:36 PM | I agree with Jaxgaret, a priest would fit in nicely with the Paladin, plus the noble aspect would lean towards that kind of character. Just hope the group faces undead! Or on another note you could go for rAndOM, and role up a chaotic evil Taer Oozemaster/Swashbuckler from the noble bloodline of Gibblandlepoolpinggloop. |
| DrMorganes10-12-05, 02:51 PM | "Noble" is more of a social class than a PC class. There are underhanded nobles, sneaky nobles, noble - um - nobles, etc, etc. It's entirely up to you as the player to decide how your PC fits into his family. A black sheep, third or fouth in line, could do quite well as a rogue or bard. A low-WIS (7), low-CON (9) rogue or bard could be the smart-aleky type, perhaps a bit spoiled, who uses his family's money and influence to keep himself out of trouble. |
| Dragonsblood10-12-05, 03:02 PM | You already have a paladin and a mage, why make another? What your party needs the most is a healer. You should really make a cleric or druid. If I were you I'd make a cleric, because it would fit well with the paladin (and I just like them more than druids). Stats should be: Str:9 Dex:13 Con:14 Int:7 Wis:16 Cha:15 Have him worship a good diety so there isn't party conflict with the paladin. With a party as small as yours, teamwork will make a huge difference in survivability. |
| Earl Power10-17-05, 10:43 AM | hmm, i understand we need a healer, but i really am bored by the concept of being a lvl 20 healing kit. and the party needs a scout too really. i usualy try to base my character around a set of cool abilities (by cool i mean abilities that present you with an extra option in combat) and i like my all-rounders. i also dont wanna roll randomly...i dont think i would be able to really feel the character im playing if i didnt think about his full creation myself any more ideas guys??? thanks for your replies so far |

| Morlen Crutz10-17-05, 01:52 PM | The best Noble character you could have in this campaign would be the Bard. you want someone sneaky then you have the bard. You want someone who can heal .. well there is also the bard. Not too hot in a fight but his buffs are some of the best in the game. Noble. He gets diplomacy, bluff and Sense Motive great for the situations a noble would find himself in. "Oh yes Lord Farcett your daughter is a delightful beauty a credit to your family" Bluff/Diplomacy as much as you like ... Translation .... You can make up your own as what I might print would probably not be allowed :P Knowledge Nobility a useful skill if your playing a noble and a class skill for the bard if I recall. You want to woo the daughter of a powerful noble .. Music and verse are what is needed ... again the bard to the rescue .. Weapon Choices .. all the good bardic weapons are acceptable in high society. Rapier and dagger, whip can be easily hidden and can be a nasty surprise ... All in all if your playing a noble then the Bard is your best bet. It has all the knowledge that a noble should. The musical aptitude showing a life of ease and tutoring. Hope this helps Regards Morlen |
