| sithar02-06-07, 08:28 PM | I'm currently in a fairly poor campaign and I really need some help deciding on what to do (if anything). Basically we've been railroaded onto one path from the start. Honestly, all it feels like we are there to do is roll dice. Otherwise the dm could play it all by himself. There is very little to no role-playing and the battles seem very poorly run. Really it seems as if the DM cannot bring himself to role-play at all; he basically plays every character in the world as if they were himself. The other PCs will sometimes take up to five minutes on their turns, and although this is rare it doesn't seem like something that a truly enthusiastic group would do. One thing that seems to happen a lot is utterly random battles that have nothing to do with the story and basically just take up 30 minutes of time (yes, 30). The reason this really irks me is that we only get three hours, once a week. Random battles and long turns have combined to make it very hard to progress in the story at all. Another thing that has happened is I've come to the point where I truly hate my character. This is probably because I had to make him on one day's notice and because of this I didn't develop a background at all, making it very difficult for me to decide how to role-play him. We've been playing this campaign since last May now, and I'm truly getting sick of it, but I can't leave because all of us are pretty close friends and I think I'd really hurt the DM's feelings. Another player has announced that he will be starting a campaign when this one ends, but I'm afraid of it having the same problems as this one. Because of this I have decided to write an easy to understand, one page, article on what I've learned so far about being a succesful DM (I'm the only one who uses this site or has read most of the DMG). Hopefully this will help prevent another campaign like this one. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should put in the article or any ideas to help the game now? P.S. the DM has announced the game will end in about 11 weeks. P.P.S. If you have read this whole thing you deserve to have this cookie :cookie: in your signature |

| icecoldkiller02-07-07, 02:48 AM | you should probebly sit down with ur DM and ur entire group and tell them nicely ur not having fun. u could probebly make a list of wat u would like improving in the game play style. it sounds like ur DM is realitivly new and may not know what hes doing. communicate with ur freiends. it sounds like they'll understand ur dilema. if not shoot ur DM in the face with a Hammer gun. im sure Chilligod will lend u his!;) |

I strongly would suggest to: A) Talk with your DM and converse with him about you and the other players not really enjoying the game. B) Leave and get a new DM/Group to play with... It cant be as hard as tring to get a new group here in Puerto Rico... Trust me, it took me over 3 years to get ahold of a good group to play with. |

I think the only real reason he says we won't finish for another 11 weeks is because he needs filler to get us up to lvl 20 for the "grand finale". Maybe I can convince him to give us some bonus xp or scale down the finale a bit. |
