Valkaun_Dain 10-27-06, 05:05 PM	I'd like to make a PC that is unparalleled at talking people into doing things, being friendly or backing down. I usually play a tank and it gets old after a while. I don't figure this character to be much use in combat but I figure his golden tongue will make up for it as well as key skills. I'm picturing Dirk Benedict as a melange of his two most famous characters: Starbuck from the original BSG and Face from the A-Team. Any help or advice appreciated. cc: classes and prestige classes board

HauptSin 10-27-06, 10:08 PM	Bard, with a single level of Warlock for Beguiling Influence. ;) Lots of skill points and mind-affecting abilities from Bard, and the one level in Warlock amounts to an at-will 24 hour buff granting a +6 to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate checks. And you wouldn't be all that bad in combat, either, having all the Bard buffs, spells, and an at-will 1d6 Eldritch Blast. This would be a "good" and "reasonable" character to play. If you want something really over-the-top, go look around on the CharOp board. ;)

RogerWilco 10-28-06, 09:38 PM	A friend of mine plays a evangelist aashimar. Bard1/Fighter1/Paladin5/Evangelist5 Devoted Performer and Negotiator. Cloak of charisma, choker of eloquence, medal of galantry are the most relevant items. Charisma is 26, Diplomacy 43, bluff 31, perform orarory 23, sense motive 18. It might be a starting point for what you're looking for, his build is realy geared towards diplomacy.

Oswald Krato 10-28-06, 09:50 PM	Well, you should use Marshal in there somewhere--good for both combat AND out--((skill focus diplomacy as a free feat, and an aura that adds your cha bonus to certain rolls--help out the party ubertripper by adding your cha bonus as a circumstance bonus to his trip attempt!)) I think Half-Elf Bard with high Cha and the substitution levels from Races of Destiny has the best thing out there.
Efim 10-29-06, 12:17 PM	A good diplomat... and a fun character to play- i would go for a beguiler (my current character)...if you want to add some spice and challange to your RP (in case you are a good character) you can take the vow of nonviolence (as i did).. i boosts your spells DC by 4 and removes only 2-3 spells from your lists since you cast primery illusions enchantments.... it might not be an uber char but its very fun with tons of option
theotherdraxen 10-29-06, 03:28 PM	Aasimar Marshal/Beguiler/Legendary Leader. Get Skill Focus (diplomacy) and Motivate Charisma from Marshal, the beguiler is exceptional at manipulating people (though I've never played one, so I can't tell you directly how). Legendary Leader lets you add your class level as a bonus on diplomacy checks with NPCs that are not unfriendly or hostile with you. You can start making fanatics pretty quick.
misinformed 10-29-06, 10:50 PM	You could always chose the religious zealot with a silver tongue. They have to be persuasive in order to convince the poor to still donate. You don't even have to be a cleric if you want. Just think of the fun you could have as a rogue or bard swindling the poor and helpless or rich and noble. Main thing is, how charismatic can you be? Make sure you have a solid grasp of the ideology of your character, so that you can learn how he/she would think. How they would persuade.
