| feartheinvinceblehamster05-11-05, 04:44 PM | It's okay with the DM. I may play a half-fiend half-celestial human monk who has for a thousand years absorbed all of humanities evils and wars. He used to be a solar but the job of doing it for humans and demihumans finnaly warped him into a half-celestial human, Then finnaly, all the evil turned him into a half-fiend. Next he proceeded to awaken and burst out from the hill under which he absorbed. he has the power to do many things, such as unlock a creatures inner evil or inner good, and to absorb evil and good into deadly blasts of energy(think a warlock, but the energy is not eldritch but aligned). He can also channel evil to summon demons or good to summon celestials. it would be a solo campaign so it would be okay, i would just be fighting tougher monsters. |

Such elaborate characters tend to be better for one-player games as you've said :D Be sure to carefully flesh out this character's background...and be prepared to deal with some pretty high CR things since it sounds like you'll have to have a high level adjustment. |
| eudas05-11-05, 05:44 PM | how did he get from being a solar (an entity who does not have a soul, because he *is* the representation of his own goodness incarnate) to being a different creature with a half-celestial template? eudas |
| JadeSpider964305-11-05, 05:49 PM | obviously you'll be throwing a lot of mechanics out the window, since a half-fiend must be of evil alignment and a half-celestial must be good...not to mention that unless you have 3 biological parents you can't be half-fiend, half-celestial, half-human. As long as you realize this, it sounds like it could be fun....in the twisted game-warping sorta way.... |
| Shaken, not Stunned05-11-05, 06:12 PM | Half does not literally mean half, ya know. I could be 1/3 celestial, and this would still be best expressed by saying hlaf-celestial. I think the PHB talks about this under half-elf. |
| eudas05-11-05, 06:32 PM | well, if he was a solar who was turned into a human by a 'wish' spell, his previous nature as a solar lending to him the half-celestial template, and then turned bitter and evil, his previous nature mutating him into a half-fiend human, ... then maybe you could justify it. but still, it's really *******ed hokey. eudas |
| Ibbins05-11-05, 06:49 PM | Half does not literally mean half, ya know. I could be 1/3 celestial, and this would still be best expressed by saying hlaf-celestial. I think the PHB talks about this under half-elf. 1/3s are impossible, because all biological heritage comes in base 2(as in, you can be 1/2 , 1/4, 1/8 human, and so on.) 3 of 8 biological great-grandparents would make you 3/8 human, but even with this method it's still impossible to get thirds. So it would come to being more like 1/4 human, 1/4 celestial, 1/2 fiend, which would skew the templates, if you care to be bothered by that sort of thing. Beyond that, I'd say the Character would need one hell of a backstory(as in several well-developed pages), or be labeled as "Uber Munchkinism" |
| Keenath05-11-05, 06:52 PM | Considering your backstory, you should start with a Celestial, then apply a half-fiend template to it. (Obviously, this breaks the requirements to APPLY a half-fiend template -- "any living, corporeal creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or more and nongood alignment" -- but you're already building a rules-bending character. Doing the two-template method, the first template makes your alignment incompatable with the second.) Applying more than one template to a single creature is usually going to cause problems of the game-breaking variety. Still, the point holds -- There's no such thing as a half-dragon half-celestial human; you either make a half-dragon celestial or a half-celestial dragon. Take your pick. (I'd suggest the half-dragon celestial, because then you're at least human shaped!) |

What I mean by this is that wizards intends for these half-combinations to be stackable; I don't know at what point, though, the part dragon or part celestial ceases to have full powers and instead is a draconic aasimar. |
| Insane Pixie05-11-05, 11:39 PM | If you want to work with mechanics, it'd be easier to take a Celestial and Demon or Devil bloodline. |
| feartheinvinceblehamster05-12-05, 04:17 PM | the way he acquired those templates is in the backstory, and half-fiend or half-celestial can be acquired templates by reality bending and other things. |
