I have decided that I would like to create a hexblade, but because I am still a fairly new player I am not 100% sure which way I would like to go with my character. And I have no idea which feats are any good for her. So if anyone has a build that I can look at please post it, I need some help here!

Now that I look this is probably not the best place to put this thread... but if you do have anything please let me know!!

Why a hexblade, specifically? I don't mean to discourage you, but their mechanics don't match up to their flavor. For example, Hexblade's Curse has a DC of 10 + 1/2 level + CHA mod. This will be resisted better than half the time by creatures with a Poor Will save (like other fighter-types). Aura of Unluck: a 20% miss chance at Level 12?! Other characters will likely have it sooner.

If you truly want to play a hexblade, play a hexblade. Just be aware that there may be other, stronger, options available to you.

That said, what about the class got your attention? You can see from their alignment restrictions that they're generally not "nice" sorts of folks. Before rolling any dice, consider what this means to you and how you envision the class being played at the table. How well do you think the hexblade would work with the rest of the party? Will (s)he be a front-line combatant? A rear guard who keeps the casters safe and helps the melee characters with spells and ranged attacks?

From there we can pick traits: smart, fast, strong, etc, and begin to assign ability scores and pick skill ranks. Hexblades don't get many skill points from their class (only 2 per level), so you either need to pick carefully or make your Intelligence score 12 or better. (This clashes with the Charisma-based nature of the class features, however.) Pick feats which either enhance your abilities or shore up weaknesses, and mesh with your over all concept.

First of all: the hexblade is not really a particularly powerful class. It has some problems as Morganes pointed out.

But, you can still have fun with it.

Cursing is the hexblade's signature ability. As fighter/caster, there are other better ways to go, so I would check out feats like Ability Focus for your Curse and some of the curse-specific feats in Dragon 339.

I would use hexblade as an early dip for another class. Take levels in it until you get mettle, and then jump out in favor of something else. Maybe grab 2 levels in fighter. Now you are at the point for prestige classes, pick one you think fits and work your way into it.

Builds i might consider off the top of my head

Hexblade 3/fighter 2/kensai 10/whatever - played as a standard evil/neutral aligned kensai.

hexblade 3/fighter 2/barbarian 1/ Frenzied berserker- always strong, and now you get mettle and a good will save worked into it for a bit.

Hex 3/fighter 2/ occult slayer X. you hunt mages. A lot. Maybe they destroyed your family or wronged you somehow. Inadvertantly or not. -one of the better flavors out of this list i think. Cha to saves vs arcane, and occult slayers bonuses as well.

hexblade 3/ fighter 2/rogue X/ streetfighter X- You are a street fighter, and you are not afraid to give yourself some minor advantages in a fight. (complete adventurer for streetfighter)

hexblade 3/fighter 2/ fortunes friend X- you are unnaturally lucky, others around you, unnaturally unlucky what can you say.

Notice a common build theme, hexblade 3. This is because after this point you stop gaining useful features, and start getting super delayed spells, or more uses of your semi useful curse.
