| Koda7706-18-05, 09:51 PM | Hey i need some help, my friend and i are playing twin half giant/half gold dragon fighters with very high str (28), now he is used to playing more skill based characters and i want to help ease the transition to a less skill based class(used to play rogue now fighter) by having something we can do thats not just a bash its brains in with our big shiny swords kinda deal. So far all i could think of was useing a 30 foot length of chain to charge, each holding one end and knock down a group of enemies. Also what kind of damage/penalties to attack would a 2 person lance have, as large as could be carried with only some obstruction. any help would be appreciated we also have an alienist a wizard and a palidan in the party we are level 8 any ideas would be greatly appreciated P.S. for feats we have weapon focus great sword, power critical, fly by attack, imp bull rush awesome blow and power attack str 28 dex 10 con 20 int 10 wis 13 cha 10 P.S.S. we have access to almost all books so any suggestions can be used |

Get him some class skills (with feats like city slicker) or get him some interesting combat feats. A strenght like that would lend well to bull rush, over-run, sunder, and grapple. Fighters are often boring because they lack any real choice in a fight (compared to that of other classes). Give him skill or give him choice. As far as team work goes: Distracting attack, sheild buddy feats (there are many, many like this) and check out the new team manuever stuff in heroes of battle and upcoming D&D books. They give you bonuses on skill checks and ability checks while, say, sneaking as a team, or searching for an invisible dude as a group. Interesting stuff there. |

With a high strength, you could afford to lose up to 5 to hit and add that to your AC. With a +1 Large Shield and +1 Chain mail, Dex 14, you could have an AC of 26 instead of 21 (I think, can't remember if Chain Mail is +5 or +6 normally). Power Attacks and the like where you sacrifice to hit for damage is also a possibility. With a high Strength you'll take people out especially if you use two handed weapons just by looking in their direction. |

You could also use a spiked chain and go for a tripper build (or some other tactical build, though the tripper is most common); in this case, the Knockdown and Large and In Charge feats (from Sword & Fist) are worth looking into. A combination of Goad (from Races of Stone) and Karmic Strike (from Complete Warrior) might also be interesting for you, though the +4 LA might cut your HP down to the point where it wouldn't be totally viable, I'm not completely certain. |
