| Lostboy170105-17-05, 03:40 PM | Ok... In a champain with 3 players: A Deep Gnome Cleric An Avariel Warlock (my boy) and a Homebrew - a Half Fey Fighter due to the LA of my my Avariel and the Deep Gnome, The 3rd player and the DM came out with what they think is a ballanced Character to join us. This half-fey got Dueling class to start with 2 weapon fighting. He wears the swords on his arms like Baracha (sp?) from Mortal combat and gets 2 attacks every round to start with. Being full fighter (and not part ranger) he is dealing sick damage whenever we fight. He also gets a few spells being part fey. This custom class design seems WAY overpowered to me and I'd like to know yer opinion. His Hit Dice are through the roof and seems to not have a cap on his growth the way my Warlock does. I know fighters, like warlocks, should be good in the beginning and taper off later, but this guy doesnt seem like he is gonna slow down later... and is gonna rule the party for the entire game. I just feel that creating him a half fey with some casting should LA him a little. But its the custom class build that seems to be sending him PAST our +4 LA. |
| Vharuck05-17-05, 03:51 PM | We need more statistical info on this class. Can you post the level progression, BAB, Saves, Abilities, etc? |
| Aeromus05-17-05, 09:23 PM | If you think for one second, a melee fighter is more unbalanced then your own character that can FLY... you are sadly mistaken. |
| feartheinvinceblehamster05-17-05, 09:27 PM | Don't say homebrew PC. it's redundant. all PCs are homebrew unless you have the creative ability of a toadstool and use premade PCs |
| TheSilentF05-17-05, 09:36 PM | I agree with Aeromus. Although he may be a superior fighter, you can still fly at will, which is something that should never be taken granted of. However, for a first level character and a half-fey, he does seem VERY powerful, just tell your DM that you think hes a bit too powerful and maybe he'll tone it down on the HD and the skill points per level, I dunno. |
| Dungeon Master05-17-05, 10:44 PM | This character can essentially be created using the standard rules... you've got a fighter with two weapon fighting, exotic weapon proficiency, and the half-fey template, which is a +2 LA I believe. What's the problem? |

Without seeing stats the first thing that raised a red flag is the 2 attacks every round bit. If he's doing it with a standard action, you're doing the attacks wrong. More than one attack in a round requires a full attack action. So any move action limits him to one attack. Still a break down of stats and how they were generated is always helpful. Stats man, like stated before, the stat breakdown of the PCs would help in figuring out this. |
