Whats the worst thing you've ever done to your party? My party likes to play by int stats, such as if you have a high int stat your char. is really smart, or if its low (like my char.) your char. is a complete tard. So i always do something that just screws my party over nearly ever time we play. Some examples are...

1 - Stole my entire parties food rations and trade it for "magic beans"
2 - Got smashed at the local inn and tried to rape my entire party for non-lethal demage
3 - Flooded a town when i was sent to collect firewood
4 - picked a fight with anyone who looked at me funny,.. since i play a orc thats everyone apparently
5 - Sold some of my party members for grog/ale
6 - Used my party to set off traps

After all this im still one of the more valuable players in my party

Most horrible actions I've done for fun. Hmm.

One time I played a Chaotic Evil.

I was not insane. I tried to play cooperatively. I tried to be friendly with the team, though I did not value the lives and opinions of NPCs.

I killed anyone on my team who acted the way the posters on this thread did.

... excluding myself.

They were either too insane, or didn't have the maturity to be left alive in the group for too long. Killing them was the most efficient way to deal with them.

That was pretty much it.

No, that's chaotic evil, unless it was a town full of psychoptahic ax-murderers.

I can't say I was into those activities myself.

A couple of player actions come to mind, though:

1. A player turned invisible and used his fly ring to get above a tribe of trolls. He looped a rope around the head of one of them, snatched him into the air, "dragged him back to the group and beat the crap out of him", then flew him back and dropped him back into the tribe.

2. Another player used his entire stash of "god wishes" (high level campaign) to change a beyond-artifact sword's alignment to match that of his character. All failed. In response, he travelled to Greyhawk and plotted to kill the head paladin.

Nothing like making what you are someone else's problem.

That is Chaotic Evil. Chaotic Neutral would only do that if the town was infested with evil beings.

I once had a fighter that killed any Drow that she found that was aligned to Elistreaee. She once walked into a bar, tapped a CG Drow on his shoulder and cut off his head. No-one dared to report her :D

Hmm. "To the Party"? Not much. To one person, sure. We went up against a pack of a half-dozen werewolves. I think we were level 3 or so at the time. The poor rogue barely survived, but ended up getting severly gnawed upon. Nobody needed to do any metagaming to know there wasn't a snowball's chance that he'd made THAT many saves. Next full moon, we were fixing to have a werewolf on our hands.

After I healed him up, the fighter and I got together and plotted. No, we weren't going to try and help him break the curse. We were going to grab a Helm of Opposite alignment, wait until he'd turned, and then hand him his brand new "Helm of Comprehend Languages". A level or two later we have a rogue with damage resistance and all the other wolfie goodies, enough skill points to learn to control it, and no nasty CE aftertaste!

Kinda hard on the poor CG rogue for a little while, but as long as that helmet stays on his head, life is good for all!

Not to start an arguement about alignment here, but seeing as how he was neutral, everything action he makes does not need to be out of the good of his heart, and for the better of mankind. If he was Chaotic Good, then that would not be an incharacter thing to do, but if he did have some reason behind it, like he meteor swarmed random villages in order to keep a balance between good and evil, then that would be fine to me as something a Chaotic Neutral character would do.

Dropping a meteror Swarm on a town would be chaotic evil if it was just for fun. Now if the town was in the way of something the Character wanted to do or if the town or it's leaders had ****** him off then bombing it wouldn't of been evil.

One of my group members tried to save my life once. I was surrounded by guards that were going to kill me, she grabbed me and flew straight up. That is fine and all, but then she showed me a holy symbol inscribed on her hand. I rolled a Knowledge(Religion) check to see if it was a legetimate symbol - scored around 38 - the answer was yes but it seems to be a personal adaptation or some sort. Since the character trying to save me blasphemed against Asmodeous (yes yes, i know) a dagger went through her chest. I think she took out most of the guards once she hit the ground which was thoughtful of her. :)

In a campaign a few years ago I was playing a chaotic neutral sorcerer. My roommate was playing a rogue who had ****** me off a couple adventures before and I was playing the kind of character who didn't let stuff like that slide. We had to infiltrate the BBEG's keep so I was overhead (invisible) keeping an eye out on things, while the rogue (also invisible) snuck in through the back door, killed the gate guards, and let the rest of the party in. This was in 3rd edition, so you could still cast 2 spells a round with haste, so just as he was sneaking up to sneak attack the gate guards, I hit him with a dispel magic and a hold person. All of a sudden he was visible, and couldn't move. Needless to say he spent several days in prison being tortured before we could rescue him. He swore revenge but my character was so paranoid he never managed to pull it off.

I was the victim of a fellow pc. The other PC was a theif of lower social standing and I was the mage and daughter of a wealthy merchant. While staying at an inn the theif decided she wanted to have some of my magic items and wealth. So, to that end, she sealed my door, poured oil down the hallway and set the place on fire. Then quickly went down to the alley outside to wait. Not thinking and, without a feather fall handy, I leap out a 2nd story window while on fire, land in the alley breaking my leg. My travel companion(unbeknownst to me) quickly tosses a wet blanket over me patting me down to put out the flames. Ha ha. I lost half my goods and all my coin.

Friend of mine just had his familiar finish off the BBEG (dam that monking was awsome!) how ever, the poison the monkey was injected with finnaly took affect, finishing it off. In response, he jumped.

Off the 2 mile tall tower we were standing on. The party jumped down affter him, (a dragonborn and raptoran) But then the Raptoran died mid save because HE was poisoned.

By the way, a Raptoran makes a funny sound when it finnaly hits the ground

In a game a while back, the entire party walked into a wizard's shop, while we were at farily low levels. We then proceeded to disable the devices. All of them, that we could, or just smash them. He made short work of us, but it was worth it. Of course, this was in a game that was designed to be humorous, not a serious setting.

A former DM attacked us while we were climbing into a Rope Trick.

We were attacked by glblin snipers in the trees. So I finished climbing in, popped out a head and arm and fireballed the trees they were in...

The DM commented that they all saved and most had evasion. I said "Yeah, but they are in the center of the biggest forest fire to hit this continent in a hundred years."

I then hit our party ninje/nimblewight with a ray of frost to immobalize him for a few rounds and pulled the rope up.

Course the DM had to pull out the lvl 20 Storm Giant druid to conjure up a storm to put out the fire. Bah!

Finally my Char. got what was coming to him

DM - The room starts to fill with sand and the door is slowly disappearing under the grains

The party heads for a nearby room. The pass through a door and before Meathook (my char) could get through the druid of our party cast entagle, trapping me in the shifting sands. Leading to my death afterwards

Reason for the death of Meathook - Earlier in the day, the party was in a town that hated druids and so to hide our commrade i throw him into a chest and locked it, then i lost the key for the chest and in the end sold said chest for grog money. The druid apparently wasn't happy about it.

One time when we were level 2-3, we were stuck in a besieged castle. We were more or less allied with the commander of the forces at the castle. We led a sortie out of the castle with the commander who never ordered his men to do something if he didn't risk himself too (we were supposed to like him). He took a crit from a greatax and was dropped to -6 or so. We nearly killed ourselves dragging his body back in. Then our rogue snuck into the surgeons tent and killed him for nearly getting him killed, even though he risked his own life too.

A party I was in (before this we were not EVIL) decided that we had since we were in a dungeon filled with traps and since the rogue was dead (from a trap he failed to disarm) We decided that in Death he would be a better trapsmith and used him throughout the dungeon to set off traps all over the place. In one spot we tossed his body down some stairs he set off 4 traps the last of which was a a pit trap. So we ,not to be deprived of his body so he could be raised a later (and to not get killed by traps), so me and the Elderly Drunken Master climbed down the chute and retrieved his body then continued to play toss the corpse. LOL It was hilarious. Except for the PC who's corpse was being used as a Disarm trap device! lol

To the party? Using Polymorph Any Object on a group member who refused to disclose his secret agenda then refusing to dispel it (12 hours of him being a toad seemed appropiate).

The most horrible action I have done for fun (in character)? Must be last session with me setting a group of adventurerers-to-be up to be killed purposely for the sole reason of them being willing to break into a royal tomb ON MY ORDER (see Best Lines Ever for full story).

Note: First post :)

Note, the half the party had died from some thing or another, those who had died were rolling new characters at level 9 so as to keep with the rest of the party.

Party:
"Ok Matt (rogue) you get to be in front to detect and disarm traps."

Rogue:
Ok, sounds good.

*Rogue is asked to roll search. Rogue rolls*

DM: "Oooo natural 1, well what does that come out to?"

Rogue: "Six"

DM+Party: "SIX! How? Did you forget to add your ranks in search to your SEARCH check?"

Rogue: "I didn't put any points in search."

Party: "... ... ... Disable device?"

Rogue: "Nope"

26str barbarian + Myself (24 str raveger): "Ok thats it... come here you."

We then proceded to grab the rogue, pick him up and throw him bodily into every room we encountered, instructing him that if he did not roll around on the ground untill he had found all the traps, we would tie him to a 10ft pole and do it for him.

Oddly enough, he managed to survive this untill the next level where he proceded to put all of his new ranks into search and disable device. Finding this far to fun to give up, the "down and dirty" method of trap detection became standard in that party. The only difference being that the Rogue started to actually find traps BEFORE he set them off. Of course, this isn't nearly as fun, so we carried through with the 10ft pole idea anyway...

lol the 10ft pole...thats hilarious....

the worst things i did was i was playing a NE cleric of valsharoon and some members of the party and myself had to break into a mansion and steal an item that was "evil" and they got beat up pretty bad and we managed to get it an escape, one of the members of the party (who was a new char since his last one died when a mage cast fireball in an 10 wide tunnel and died) asked me to heal him so i said "sure come with me to the cemetary" hit him in tha back of the head for subdual dmg knocked him out cold tied him up desecrated the ground cast unholy made an altar and sacrificed him ... using the BoVD i ended up getting to control the weather for 24 hours which came in handy cause we were attacked by the owner of the mansions goons and arrows dont fly straight in a hurricane....

another char i had cast web in a room with his enemies and a couple of party members in it...cast grease set it all on fire shut the door cast larcane ock and ran like hell..

Without needing to buy anything, I would constantly hold back my treasure findings from my party. That was fun to bluff through. Also, in order to join the assassin's guild, the DM/Guildmaster wanted me to show my devotion by killing a party member. I confided in two different party members that I was going to kill the other (One good, one evil). Got assistance and payment from each, then killed the good one.

The worst action I have been witness to was pretty bad though. After the whole party had turned evil, we kidnapped a widow and her daughter, then (the aforementioned good assassinated party member's new evil character) told the widow she had to do something that can't be mentioned explicity in this thread with a knife to herself , or she would have to watch her daughter be tortured. This is where the DM declared that both widow and daughter died of simultaneous heart attacks, and that the game was suspended.

Ah.. the art of messing with ones party.

- Once, my female elven bard challenged the proud dwarven fighter to a drinking contest. I walked up to the bar and ordered two large mugs of ale (for myself), and two equally large mugs of the strongest booze money could buy in that place. Then I used four 'Prestidigitation' spells to change the taste and smell of the booze to that of normal ale, placed the two booze mugs in front of the dwarven fighter and yelled "Buttoms up, short guy!". The next morning, the guy were found sleeping in the gutter outside the tavern with no memory of what happened. To his death he refused to accept that he had been beaten in a drinking contest by an elf.

- While invisible I stalked the partys necromancer every night for about a week, casting 'Ghost Sounds' and 'Slient Images'. We were investigating a supposingly haunted castle at the time, and as an 'expert in the fields of the undead' he failed to see the diffrence between my cheap tricks and an actual ghost for several days. He saw through my pranks though, but when he finally met the real ghost of the castle he just exclaimed "Bugger off, bard. I have no time for your cheap tricks tonight!". That was his last words.

- I was playing an elven rouge/illusionist, and in my group we had a stupid as hell half-ork barbarian, who refused to take orders from a "pansy pointy-ear". However, I managed to control him by using my spells, pretending to be Kord himself leading the barbarian on a holy crusade. The barbarian died while protecting my gear in a tavern, where a gang of gnome rouges were on the loose. I used my 'Ventroquilism' spell to tell him that "The room of the pointy-ear is a holy sanctuary to me, Kord! Let no one but the pointy-ear enter!", and went to sleep. Unfortunately for the barbarian, the captain of the city guard and five of his best men came to talk to me about some things I had removed from some mansion in the city earlier that week. As they tried to break open my door, the barbarian screamed "By Kord, you shall not enter!" and started chopping them up with his greataxe while I escaped out the window with my loot and other possesions.

Fun times..

Hmmm... horrible actions...

- Cast Ray of enfeeblement on an arrogant party member while he argued with and readyed himself to fight a dragon knight and his red dragon mount - Pwned: he was striped bare, with only his underwears, tied to a couple woods and left to float down a river.... and i waved "bye" as he passes by..

- Striked with my poleaxe while the party wizard was right at my side - the horrible part? The DM let me comission a fireball effect that worked 3/day and exploded on impact.. and i spent 3 actions to ready all 3 charges at once while we walked down a corridor.... the fun? The foes we hit were fire giants, and my groundling fighter/wizard was fire imune as well due to fiend-blood...

- Drooled on (more then once) and offered my armour to a fellow party member - I was a Kython (the zerg from Bovd) on an all evil game.. He was an elf wizard all clean and noble-acting... fun times..

Of fellow party members:

- The barbarian once bit a boomshroom while hte others inspected the patch... and on the seccond time, decided to kick it while we crossed an even larger patch.... Luckly I was fireproof.

- The cleric, on an epic-style battle against an anthro-griffon lich, at two hits to be defeated... oblivious to all, cast harm to "defeat" the lich... and the battle continued on for far longer..... (how i loved DM-ing that battle)

Well my NE warforged fighter/assassin turned on the party.

See, we had just lined up for an encounter with BBEG (in this case a powerful true necromancer).

After carefully examining the situation, Whirlwind ('twas his name) decided he'd be more likely to survive fighting with the necro than against him.

Since the DM allowed secret actions (we pioneered this during our on-off PvP arena fight), I spent the required number of rounds studying the party cleric, then Death Attacked him and succeeded.

I offered his head as a show of loyalty to my new master and then proceeded to slaughter the remaining party members.

Good times.

Whirlwind eventually became a recurring villain, who, since my DM had me build every incarnation, would regularly pulverize the party before being stopped, distracted, or fleeing.

He was eventually killed by Pun-Pun, as a vehicle to introduce Pun-Pun to the campaign setting.

No my character was nice some of the time and easily suggestable (Think Fighter from Nuklear Power) and was asked if she knew how the area would have looked before the town was built due to an old map we had. My characters solution was to cast meteor swarm to see what it looked like.

I find it very disturbing that you consider rape so trivial.

First off, this is a game, secondly If you play your character well things like rape or mass murder may seem acceptable to your character. Example, my one half-orc has a low int, a drinking problem, and has a violent history. Under the influence of alcohol he has been arrested for such things as assualt, rape, and murder. Yes, he is a C/E. Now if the orc was say C/G, he may just act out against law figures in the public, have to much to drink, or fight guards for no really reason. Because of the back story given to the orc he finds rape, murder, etc completly reasonable. To sum up, its all about how well you play your character to his/her backstory.

Way back in 2E I was a CN elven rogue. At the time we had a house rule that to level up you had to be trained by someone at least 2 levels above you in that class. A party member wanted me to "train" him in rogue. I said yes but he had to pay me 500GP. He wanted to know if a gem worth 500GP would be OK. I said sure.

Unbeknownest to me he had stolen this gem from the mayors house. It was a family heirloom. The DM played it perfectly and only gave me clues (The guy was gone all night, there was a robbery reported, a valuable gem matching the description was stolen. Etc.)

We were only passing through this town so we carried everything with us. Since we were strangers the guards were following us for about 2 blocks. I called the DM in the other room and asked him if I could use my Pickpocket Skill (That was what it was called back then) to place the gem back in the other players backpack. The DM said he would give me a negative but I could try. I did and it worked. The guards came up to us all nervous because we were obviously seasoned adventures and asked kind of sheepishly if they could search us. Everyone in the group looked at me since I was the sneaky rogue and to EVERYBODIES surprise I said sure. I dumped everything out and let them look through it. The other player had this look of confusion as to how I hid the gem so well.

That look of amazement turned to complete shock when the guards searched him and found the gem on him. His eyes got all wide and he started to stammer.

The DM said was "Do you remember the elf bumping into you?"

He said, "Yeah."

The DM "Do you think someone with a 22 in Dex would bump into you on ACCIDENT?"

Then it dawned on him. A dragon couldn't have wiped the smile off of my face.

Worst thing I eve did in-characetr was to eat a fellow PC's horse. He went off to scout and left the rest of us alone. My PC - a half-ogre - was hungry and ate his horse. I then took my helm (which had a full rack of antlers on it) and tied it to the horse skeleton's head. When the PC returned I told him it was a deer and his horse ran away.

I haven't really done anything (and I haven't even BEEN in a non-solo game, and I have only solo-played once), but I think, as a cleric, my job is to provide healing to the party and use a good 'ole trusty Sanctuary spell to keep us unharmed.

First game I try, I'll use Inflict Minor Wounds on a party mate instead of Cure Minor Wounds (and trust me, I know which player I am referring to) and claim that I mixed them up :D .

And to reply to the last post about the half-orc, that's rather cruel (by Lawful Neutral standards).

This wasn't done by myself, it was done by the DM of our group.

My character (and her friend) were in a tavern. (Mine a druid her friend a sorceress). My druid's friend had lost her pet in a gutter (in the tavern). So anyways my druid polymorphed into a chipmunk (while hiding under a table so she woundn't look wierd) And scampered into the gutter. But she didn't notice that she had warped her clothing off, so when she transformed, she was bare naked in front of a full tavern. (38 Cha. Was used in the worst way that day.)

My character has done a lot of questionable things. The following comes to me right away:

While exploring an elven ruin we came across a room intended to test one's dexterity. The room contained a 6 in beam across a 40 ft pit at the end of which was a lever of some kind that would allow us to cross unhindered. Since our party was at the time composed of two rogues, a beguiler, and a fighter, the Chaotic Good Rogue suggested we see who the better rogue was and place a wageron who could reach the end first. I backed out of the bet but decided to put money down on the Chaotic Good rogue while she put money on herself and the Beguiler bet on himself. As the competition ensued the Chaotic Good rogue was struck by an arrow trap and fell fromthebeam. At that point I realized that I could lose my 100 GP and fired a crossbow bolt at the Beguiler. He made the Balance check and cast blindness on meat which point I try to coax the fighter into shooting him. The Chaotic Good rogue, however, offered to buy 10 arrows for every one arrow the fighter managed to lay on the Beguiler, which prompted him to dull the arrow and fire for subdual damage, knocking the Beguiler down.

After two hours out of game of consistently backstabbing each other in this way weeventually decided we needed to pass this room and reluctantly called off the bet.

This was in 2E also. It wasn't against another player but my gaming group still brings it up every once in awhile.

We (4 characters 2 fighters, 1 necromancer, and 1 wizard all CE) went into this town that had been decimated by an attack of some kind. I was a half ogre fighter. Being so large I needed a large horse (Think Clydesdale) to carry me. The DM made me almost jump through hoops to get such a large horse (And had me pay a pretty penny). When we enterd the outskirts of town we dismounted and walked our horses in. When we got about 5 minutes into town we were met by a small skinny boy in front of the stables.

He said "Can I take your horses?"

We said sure and gave him a gold piece. The DM said the kid looked at us weird and led the horses into the stables. We walked around the town for about an hour in real time. We found out everybody was starving and the attacks were by a group of rogue knights that raided the town and took everything they could carry. We said we would track them down for a cut of the returned property. Being CE we were talking about just taking everything we find and leaving.

When we got back to the stables the kid was sitting out front. He looked at us and took off running. We of course followed and caught him. Being the half ogre I was I picked the kid up and asked him why he ran.

He said he was very sorry but he and his family were very hungry. There were 10 of them to feed. Meanwhile the DM has a large smile on his face and I realize what the kid is talking about.

I scream in his face "YOU ATE OUR HORSES DIDN'T YOU?"

He says "No. Just the big one. The others we're saving."

The DM takes a drink from his pop still wearing that smug look.
I look at the DM and say "I drop kick the kid as far as I can."

The DM spits pop out all over his hand as he is trying to stop the pop from hitting us, the table, the books, the dice, etc.

He says "You WHAT!?!?"

I say "You heard me."

The DM shakes his head and I roll "To Hit" and drop kick the kid about 50 yards.
He says "He is very dead. Bones are sticking out of the body."

I then turn to our Necromancer and ask if he would bring the kid back as undead. He says sure. He brings the kid back and I grab him again and drop kick him. He is brought back again and we just let him wander around the town.

The DM mumbles something like "You did HAND him your horses."

Sorry, but I had to report that one for flaming. That one went too far.

*snip*

I don't care about the flaming(If i did, i would be the biggest hypocrite ever known), but in a good D&D game, you can imagine reality. I've felt bad for people my assassin killed, and I've felt glad when my paladin defeated the evil baron. I am not a 30 year old who lives with his parents and has no girlfriend, and if you think that anyone who is serious about D&D is like that, why are you on these forums? If you're planning on doing something that you're not serious about, don't go on its forums and flame people. This is from previous experience as a 14 year old, and I think you are one. A childish one. You probably faked being 18 so you can be on the mature boards. If you think rape isn't that bad, you need to speak with a rape victim. If you have ever lost any bit of dignity you've had, you might feel a little of the emotional side of it. It isn't even a joke topic for D&D games.
Address your games with more maturity than laughing at a vile act.

On topic, my mohrg told the town about the party rogue when he was stealing from the king.
The argument afterwards IC was brilliantly funny. (BUT HE'S NOT AN ELF!- A direct quote from my mohrg.)

Seriously VT, is it your goal in life to disagree with everything anyone ever says about alignment?
...

Not my goal really, no. More like a habit.

A habit that causes much amusement for me. And a way to throw out frustrations.
Am I a stalker for following his threads?

That is Chaotic Evil. Chaotic Neutral would only do that if the town was infested with evil beings.

Chaotic neutral is just as capable of doing good as evil. They're all about chaos, however.

I'm sorry guys, but it has to be said

neutral is able to do evil, and it is still evil. if you do evil, you become evil. so if you don't do good acts to balance the evil ones, you're going to be evil.

The worst thing i did was trying to get into a drinking contest with a fire elemental. the rest of my party heard the WHOOSH, as i kept trying to give it alcohol (the elemental was bound and used as a propulsion system, but i wanted to be friends with it). my character was very drunk at the time and ended up nearly killing one character before succumbing to a suggestion spell to quit fighting. it was the almost killing the monk that made it terrible, as well as being in the middle of a large, crowded city feeding lots of alcohol to a fire regardless of the consequences

Ok I got two
1. This was during, when our party was only level 16. Our party was at a local bar. We didn't want to pay to much for the drinks we ordered. So what we did was that one of the players in our campaign decided to Intimidate him, until he got the prices down to a reasonable price. So what I decided to do was in stead of just excepting the 2 gp he offered afre the intimidation. When our party had like 10 dwarven spirits. I just decided to kill him. So I rolled a critical on the bar tender and before I killed him he yelled gaurds so we ran out of the bar as fast as we could and killed the guards.
2. When our campaign was only 10th level. We had a dungeon where we had to talk to the ruler of the kingdom were in. So while we were talking to the gaurds for authorization to see the king I said jokingly that I will take a dump in the corner while this is going on. By this action the guards sent me outside and I had to wait until my party was done talking to the king. Then they had to fill me in once they got done talking to the king.

Okay OKay, Im prick, yada yada whatever. First of all, yeah I did take it a little to far, sorry, but im a man who plays his character to their limits. If my char. is some crazied mass murder or whatever, im going to play him as such.
You said it yourself, you can imagine reality, rape is reality. People, or in this case characters, do stupid ****. Even more so if under some kind of influence.
Furthermore, and this is a big one, its a game. People that view it as anything else should strongly take a look at themselves. D&D is not reality, view it as such. Don't preach to me about ethics in a game were you can destroy whatever at the roll of a di. It when people take these games to seriously that when it real starts to suck the fun out of it.

Now on a different note. Alignment, this is always highly debated. CN can do evil acts for no reason. The same can be said with any alignment. A LG could do a evil act for no reason. Although doing this would go against your characters background and personality. Although one of my party members has paladin with inner demons, these demon tell the paladin, and on rare occasion control him, to kill and do acts of evil. So although this paladin may one minute be trying to save a person from a robber, the next minute he could kill the same person and take the money. It all goes with your character's personality, background, and how well you play these.

Rminded me of something one of my party members did. We'd been speaking in character when the LN Human Fighter's player said "I go to the bathroom," and then went to the bathroom.
This was in an old Elven crypt, with a priest of Anubis, a paladin of Anubis, a VERY religious Bladesinger, and an NPC watchnorn. When the character came back, he found out that his character had an Enlarged urethra and had taken 4 points of damage from a punch to the kidney. The norn told him, "I don't think your friends like you very much. I was just going to kill you."

Whats the worst thing you've ever done to your party?I was left behind to guard the entrance to this gate where they weren't permitted to bring any magic items. I got bored so while I was waiting for them to get back, I put on everyone's equipment at the same time and stomped around yelling, "I AM THE COMPANIONS OF CHAOS!" I believe this also included two suits of armor.

Alignment is highly debated, and CN more than any other. A character who is neutral is neither strongly good nor strongly evil, and will not do strongly good or evil acts.

A common fallacy is to say that good and evil acts balance out. They do, but not on a one-for-one scale. Giving money to charity does not balance mass-murder, for example. The paladin example above is a bogus example - if a PC is possessed by demons then their actions under possession are controlled by the DM not the player, otherwise the player is just extracting the urine and playing, in effect, a CE paladin.

If you murder somebody, that is an evil act. The good act of contrition is to give somebody life at great potential cost to yourself. Throwing a rope to a drowning man does not balance it; what balances it is going into a fight you could well lose for somebody who means nothing to you in order to save them just because they are a fellow sentient being.

Rape is a crime that destroys and humiliates a person to the ultimate degree, yet leaves them alive to suffer and relive it. What act can you do that can possibly compensate for that? Perhaps investing ten years of time and energy into rebuilding the shattered life of an innocent ...

The bottom line is that it is far easier, quicker and more convenient to do evil acts than good ones. It takes minutes to destroy what takes years to build. If you want to 'balance that action' in a neutral person then that is exactly what you have to do, otherwise you just have an evil person with occasional pangs of conscience. This is why most CN characters who say 'because I'm chaotic I can do that' are actually playing CE - they are even thinking like a CE character by trying to justify that they aren't evil.
