So I started in this new campaign with my friend(DM) and I started making my character and ask how I was going to make my stats and he explaines how he wants me to roll my stats and that I have to roll 5d6 6 times to get the stats. After I roll the stats he tells me to drop the two lowest numbers from each roll. So I do this thinking its a decent way to roll stats but then in the end I go to put my stats where I want them and he says that I have to put them in the same order that I rolled them.

And I was like WTF thats horrible because I had already chosen my race and class. (Half orc barbarian) So now I'm stuck paying this crappy ass character who's being rail roaded because I didn't feel like coming into town right away and wanting to explore.:(

I think this is a fun way to roll characters, but only if you choose what you are after rolling stats.

What was the bit about being railroaded into going to town?

multiclass to cleric ASAP. Only thing I can think of really.

I was playing a barbarian and in my history it says that I don't trust humans so I try to avoid towns so I'm doing something out of town and the dm basicly forces me into town so that I could meet the rest of the party

If you rolled stats like that and still chose to play a barbarian, it's your own fault.

Meaning, he chose his race/class BEFORE rolling, and was forced to play what he rolled, as he rolled it

Kill your DM, consume his soul and corrupt it into your own twisted form before you release it from your fiery, painful prison as your eternal servant. Then ask him to let you choose a different class/race.

Did you ask your DM if you could change your class to something else?

Well, you have a couple of choices. You can play it, and suck. You can have your character come to the realisation that he's not cut out for the barbarian lifestyle, and kill himself. Roll up a new character until you roll the higher stats in the right order.

Best option: Multi-class, as fast as you can, to Cleric or Druid. Either of those should be able to take advantage of your high Wisdom, and both have spells and special abilities that will boost your melee abilities. Nobody's going to screw with a Wildshaped Raging Dire Bear, or a Raging Righteous Mighted Cleric of Kord.

This is the entire problem: you and the DM were not on the same page prior to character generation. If you have to put them in the order you roll them but you did not know that, the DM is playing "GOTCHA" which is really only fun for him.

If the DM won't let you move the scores, and you still want to play, change your character idea. The scores ARE fine, you can make another character.

Otherwise, if the DM won't budge, and you won't change your character concept, then learn to enjoy complaining, get really good at it. No sense doing something halfway.

See if you can do any of the following:
Change your class to Cleric or Druid
Multiclass into Cleric or Druid
See if the DM will allow you to switch 2 scores around (this is what most of my DMs did will the roll in order method)

Otherwise, just either kill off your character (shouldn't be hard, barbarian with 12 con and 11 str after racial mods) or tell your DM straight off that this character is going to get screwed as he isn't very well equipped to be a barbarian.

Alternatively, you could just play the character and see how it goes, you might just enjoy it.

All you need to do to make this 2nd Edition is to drop off the 2d6 before rolling.

Talk to him about this and tell him what you've posted here. If they don't change the railroading and don't let you change something about it...

 Congratulations, you have yourself an arsehole DM.

Explain to your DM the meaning of the words "immature", "control freak" and "enjoying the game" Keeping dice as rolled is harking back to the nonsense of race-based character classes..... Explain to him the daftness of it then bury the body in a shallow grave :evillaugh

You know, there is absolutely nothing saying this character is bad...You can still do a very good job with him.

Multiclassing has already been brought up, so I won't discuss it...

But what about frenzied beserker? If you are in a frenzied rage killing machine you greatly counterbalance your deficiet in strength.

My advice, suck it up...try to enjoy the character...after 3 to 4 games of really trying to have fun if you still aren't then pour one bottle of alchemist fire into your ear and create a different character...be aware of the rules this time.

I say play it. yeah o.k. you're not going to be the best barbarian going strength-wise, but think about it - you've got an average Str (I'm assuming the 9 was pre-racial mod), which increases with rage, but you've also got a pretty damn good Wis and Cha. Instead of playing Ug the Barbarian ("I smash, I kill!"), play Thraggit the Barbarian ("I have two syllables in my name, that means I'm smart").

His Int isn't all that high, so don't play him smart, but he's going to make a good leader. High Wis = maybe he has an instinctive feel for tactics (though probably not strategy) and High Cha means that people will follow him despite the fact that half the time he gets them into more trouble than he gets them out of it. If your group is anything like mine, it's the sort of thing that makes for a good RP opportunity. Instead of everyone being the stereotype of their class, be something a little different, the weak barbarian, the clumsy rogue, the absent minded wizard, it's fun (...well, usually more funny than 'fun' per say...).

Anyway, that's my advice.

I'm gonna have to add my vote to the "suck it up and have fun with it" column. Yeah, it looks bad now, but it's a great opportunity to get creative and have some fun. My friend Sarah is currently playing the worst druid ever, and as much as we tease her, everyone is having a great time with it. What seems like a death sentence now could turn out to be one of the best things to happen to you.

Umm I'm not sure what to say....

I can unstand being ****** about playing a character like that...

I would advise multi-classing in druid. It makes sense flavourly wise, and raging, + wild = fun.

I can understand not wanting to be railroaded, but I can also understand a DM wanting to put the party together.

I'd say just gowith it, or find a new camapign, whatever floats your boat.

I would demand to be able to move the stats. Failing that, play your character as a delusional barbarian who thinks he's invincible, and get him killed ASAP.

have your character kill himself.
