The cost of crafting your average item is 50%. The selling price of your average item is likewise. I just had an encounter with a deck of many things and the two cards I drew were one that got me 10,000 XP and another that made me lose all my magic items. Since I'm a mage and have the scribe scroll feat, I'd like to compensate for one with the other, but I'm trying to figure out how. Any suggestions?

There is a regional feat in PGTF, which in addition to giving you additional gold, lets you sell items at 75% of market price, and buy an item at 75% of market price 1/month.

However, it can only be taken at 1st lv. :(

I am not sure of other "get rich quick" schemes though. :P

Also, you can reduce the cost of crafting the item.

Another feat in the Player's Guide to Faerun (Magical Artisan) allows you to reduce the cost of making an item with a specific chosen feat to 75%. A feat in the Eberron Campaign Setting can do the same thing for any item, Money-wise (at least).

Also, the 50% selling prices, IMO, for only when you sell to those who sell themselves. Theoretically, if you sell to fellow adventurers instead of merchants, you could charge full price for the item.
That's what a DM of mine is allowing anyway (with dungeon loot instead of scrolls), provided I roleplay any deals made.

Build a shop that trades in rare or obscure goods. Wait two to three months for someone who needs what you have created to find you. Voila, you can now sell it at base price.

But that is a drag on your adventuring. If you stay around a specific area you could contract with a purvayer of rare goods to purchase your magic goods at a higher price than 1/5 base price. Or you could open your own shop and hire others to run it. In that case you can sell at full base price, but you have the associated costs to go along with it.

You can sell items at full price very easily. Just stop adventuring and become an NPC, then sell items to the rest of your former party.
