| shadowwalkerinc03-12-07, 06:52 PM | I am currently in a game where I use power Attack & Leap Attack every chance I can. As I read it, PA'n by -2 will give me 4 with a two handed weapon & with Leap Attack that jumps up to 12 because the two handed weapon. Now the GM has told me no, I only get 6. I can't add the bonus to the two handed weapon twice, only once. Who's right? My fellow players (all but one) has sided with the GM. I am at a loss. This is my main attack & it's being cut 6 extra damage points. What should I do? Keep to my clame or just go with the GM's ruleing? |
| Freedom03-12-07, 06:58 PM | The DM is correct. You do not triple the result of your Power Attack, you triple your BAB penalty instead of doubling it, just like the feat reads. -2 BAB with two handed weapon = +6 damage with Leap Attack. |
| FRRC03-12-07, 07:00 PM | Per RAW in the book, Leap Attack says that you triple the bonus that you get for using Power Attack when Leaping using a Two-handed weapon. So for example: if you get +4 damage from Power Attack (at -4 attack), you would have +12 in total by leaping with a two-handed weapon. |

What I don't understand is no matter how you read it you can read it in two different ways. Is there no ruleing from Wizards on what is should be read as? |

What is 2 x 2=4. Check the errata: LP gives +100% what PA gave you. 4 + 4=8. So the answer is 8 bonus damage not 4 or 6. |
| Daosus03-12-07, 10:20 PM | Just pointing out that in DnD, most of the time, 2x2=3 not 4. Don't know if this applies here, but applies to all other multiplication, so.....that would explain the 6. |
| wonlee7603-12-07, 11:20 PM | The errata for the feat says 100% more than usual with a successful leap attack (at least 10 feet of horizontal distance jump). So basically for a TH weapon: +4 damage for every -1 penalty to hit. For a one handed weapon: +2 damage for every -1 penalty to hit. So I guess you're both wrong in your own way. ;) |

| Merryadocc03-13-07, 12:44 AM | where is this errata? Complete Adventurer errata is what you are chasing. |
| kelvinaw27303-13-07, 09:20 AM | With the way the description of the feats reads your DM is actually right, you don't apply the leap attack and the power attack seperately, the latter replaces the former. The Errata given does giove you a slight boost, probably because the initial wording is not very clear. So if you can show your Dm the errata, you will get +8. Not as good as +12, but better than +6. |
| Cromulent03-13-07, 12:09 PM | When figuring out damage, here is the formula. TOTAL damage = BASE damage + ADJUSTMENT multiplier In this case, the base damage comes from Power Attack. Power Attack says: Subtract a number from all melee attack rolls and add the same number to all melee damage rolls...If you attack with a two-handed weapon, or with a one-handed weapon wielded in two hands, instead add twice the number subtracted from your attack rolls. Your base damage in this case is +1 per point of BAB, or +2 per point of BAB if you're using a two handed weapon. You then add up all the various adjustment multipliers that apply. Remember that "double" is the same thing as "+100%" and "triple" is the same thing as "+200%." The errata to Leap Attack says: You deal +100% of the normal bonus damage from your use of the Power Attack feat. So your adjustment modifier is +100%. If you had any other adjustment modifiers (supreme power attack, or anything else that allowed you to double or triple damage), you'd add them all together right now to end up with your final adjustment multiplier. So with your two-handed weapon, your base damage is +2 per point of BAB, and your adjustment modifier is +100%. Your total damage is +4 for every point of BAB you spend Power Attacking. That is the final total, based on the wording of Power Attack and the errata to Leap Attack. In your case, Power Attacking for -2 will give you +8 damage. |
| shadowwalkerinc03-13-07, 08:09 PM | I understand where you are getting the 8, but I am useing a two handed weapon, great axe, and leap attack adds extra to that fact, makeing it 12 & not 8 as if I was just two handing a one handed weapon. Thats why I say 12 & not 8. |
