Taking the Feat "Leadership" to get a cohort and some followers is an easy way to get people you trust working for you. If it's an epic campaign (The 12.5 mil gold you have leads me to believe it is) then there's also an epic feat of Leadership but you have to have the first feat also. This gives you bunches of followers.

As for taking over a city to rule just pick one. Move in and either start buying businesses that interest you or build your own to compete with the ones already there. You'll have to ask your DM about it really. Go in, scope out the setting and see what's what. Work from there.

k ty, it is an epic campaign, alrdy faought and killed 4 BBEGs lol, im lvl 15 sorcerer, my companions split from me because they think im going to kill them :(, well anyway this happens by the dm spliting us in half so he does 2 sessions a week, one for me and one for the other three, we have lots of time :) *snort snort* (NERDDDDD). im starting the kingdom to reveal my former companions, theyre hiding from me so im going to lure them out and kill them. :)

Well, that pretty much sums it up. Level 15 and you've killed 4 BBEGs, epic, and you split from the other three players to get a session all by yourself so that you can start a kingdom and kill them? Ah...I can picture your group's typical session in my head. All that's missing is Dorothy.

The best thing to do is whatever it will take to make you happy. Take your 12.5 million, buy a few super artifacts, and just dominate. Why bother with the work necessary in administrating a kingdom when you can take the gold and use it to buy powerful stuff?

Or, just put a 12.5 million gold bounty on their head. Someone will bring you their cold, stiff corpses soon enough.

Do it mob-style on an existing kingdom in turmoil:

Get Leadership
Work on Diplomacy and Intimidate maybe Bluff
Est. crooked rackets (illegal trade, extortion, guild/ union control, skimming wherever possible etc.)
Cooperate and territorialize w/ the competition- don't attack them unless necessary
Buy out crooked politicians

Mob style huh, that sounds fun, get a crime orginization going, over throw the ruling king, Become ruler of the alrdy cities, than put a 4 million gp bounty on their heads, and while im king, tax some people and earn back more than my 4 million gp, and in the time when im not king ill have 8.5 million gp left to get some artifacts, im set i guess.

Why would you bother "ruling" a city when you could just own it...

Don't kill/over-throw/do anything to the king....let him think he's in charge. Buy up all the businesses, all the farms, all the land and everything right out from under his nose. No need to go around killing people, just make a buy-out on the town. That way you own it legitimately and don't have to worry about anyone protesting how you came to power. If you own everything but the keep in the middle of town, the king will have to ask your permission to walk the streets anyhow. :smirk:

And as far as crime organizations go....don't start one or take over one....just buddy-up with some of the leaders...I'm sure they'd love to have you around. Then take all of the people following them....and have them follow you.

.o0( By the way.....OMG who is your DM, I'd love to game under that guy. Is his name Monty?)

Where is this "Kingdom" going to be built?

Your character is most likely going to be usurping land and title from an already-existing ruler.

You have several choices.

1) Find some obscure piece of wasteland that no one holds any claim over, contract the building of your city there. Find some reason for people to move out there and pay you taxes.

2) Raise an army by hiring a ton of mercenaries, and conquer a pre-existing city. Hopefully one that is not part of a much larger kingdom with a huge army at its desposal to come and put you in your place.

3) Become such a huge benefactor of a large city that you are elevated to nobility status, and from there, scheme to steal power from whoever currently rules... by marrying someone's daughter or something along those lines, and then disposing of the existing nobility in your way.

4) Go ahead and contract the building of your city in a realm that is claimed by a pre-existing kingdom. Pay that kingdom some taxes to retain lordship over your city. This has the benefit and cost associated with it... in that citizens of YOUR city might be called into the army of the kingdom. The GOOD side of it is, is that if the King of the realm decides that your city is particularly worthy of protection, you could have the entire kingdom's army at your desposal to protect you.

sense i have all this gold at my disposale, im thinking more along the line, of buying out EVERY single thing in the city, exept the palace, and such, and also have a keep constructed for me, just to make me happy, And sense i own everything, i rent it out, im pretty sure i can buy a quarter of a continent out, than when the times right, i could go into kings ship, than when i have kings ship, i will have an army of about 3.5 million, and if i have a draft about 7 million, and with that i can take on the other 4 remaining continents, and i dont really need to worry about little squabbles of rebelions, im a wizard... i mean 1 fireball and a couple royal gaurds can break up a rebellion of 600 people.

Buy up all the property in the city, except for the palace...as you said you would....and then use the left over money to build your own keep just outside the original keep's walls.....then just stand on the balcony and smirk at the "king"....

ya, i have all that gold because i was working for the king's of EVERY continent, but this king bullshited me and was supposed to pay me 1 million gp for killing this evil insane cleric dragon rider guy, but he only gave me 800.000 gp, so im ****** at him and am going to ruin his kingdom, well ruin him ^^

If people have the money to pay you that much gold for a variety of tasks, there's no way you could simply BUY everything.

If that was the way things were, then that would mean that your 12 Million gold is the majority of the entire regional economy - basically meaning that you own 99% of the wealth of the region, and thus people cannot afford to NOT sell you all their possssions.

That sort of thing just starts transcending into the realm of "silly".

Well all i know is that, thats how much $ i have, and im fine with it, small houses regularly cost 4000 gp, quiet alot, medium about 6000, mansions about 9000, keeps 2mil, castles 9mil, stuff like that, but i dont care if it makes sense, im happy with it

Fanatical cults are always good. If you convince people that you're their god then they won't think to question you and they'll sacrifice their lives for your cause. Easily, get some good cohorts and have them start prophecying your godship, then pump up your ranks in Diplomacy so you can make people Fanatics about you (A godlike thing if ever there was one), Perform does the same thing. However, at 15th level you can't get your scores this far, so try some synergies, ability modifiers, and other bonuses to the level required, about 40 at least.

Attitude.Means.......................Pos sible Actions
Fanatic..Will give life to serve you Fight to the death against overwhelming odds, throw self in front of onrushing dragon

Seems that gold is inversely proportional to one's command of grammar, spelling, and syntax.

So...the famous and powerful sorcerer, who is arguably crazy, and definately murderous, want's to try and orginize a treasonous enclave.

You can expect that, particularly for your character, trying to found your own country inside of another nation will place you VERY high on the list of people to have arrested and executed, or simply assassinated. We're not just talking about the government either. The trade guilds want you dead too. See, you're a massive destabilizing force that will bring neither better markets or maintain the current state of commerce. Expect the teamsters to put a hit out on you. Of course the LG churches will not want you to lead a revolt against the king, since he's way better than you. Expect Paladins to come knocking. Also, word got out that you've got a buzillion GPs laying around, and that kind of cash will draw all sorts of heavily armed and unemployed sorts (adventurers).

So, while the army has cordoned off the area and laid seige to you, the Paladins are busting down your front door, which is a good distraction from the assassins slipping through the window, but that's not all! You'll also have random adventurers raining through your roof, because they'll try to do something crazy like blow it off and then Feather Fall from griffins. Oh, did I mention that your former party members have filled these guys in on your general capabilities?

The only people it seems you would be good for are those random destruction types, and those outside powers who would use you as a pawn to weaken the dominant local powers.

Of course, that's a reasonable response, and it seems if you've got MILLIONS of GP laying around, you may not be in a reasonable situation.
