DM created a house special - an evial treant that is 1/2 treant and 1/2 vampire. It is a 15 HD.

This is a low lvl group with the highest wizard at lvl 8 (highest character at 10 lvl). I know we can use disintergrate spell but that is a Wiz 6 lvl. We need to kill it ASAP and cannot wait until our wizard get to lvl 12.

The evil treant has the characteristic of a treant therefore it has no heart or head. It is 1/2 vampire so when its hit point hit zero it dissapate.

Any suggestion will be really helpful!

PS This is a low level/magic campagin.

I'd suggest making all the Knowledge rolls your group is capable of making, and hope to get lucky. Either that, or the DM is gunning for TPK.

Okay. Vampires can be killed by staking, sunlight, and running water.

Staking is out so I would say:

Burn down the forest. With the trees gone, it will be destroyed by the sunlight in short order.

Lure it into a river somehow.

Hit it with a Decanter of Endless Water (9,000 gp). If you hit it with it for two rounds, it's dead permanently.

try these
touch of idiocy combined with command undead
halt undead
daylight
ray of enfeeblement

or just healing spells (undead take damage from a healing spell)

Fireball.

When it disappates, where does the cloud go? Where is it's coffin?

When it reforms, burn it again, in the coffin.

Go and find the highest level cleric you can and explain the problem, and ask for his help. Do the same with a sage.

If both of those don't work, just leave the area.

Just cast Heal on it. Then poke at it with something.

Well, I'm just wondering what the Hell such a Thing does in a Low Magic World, but anyway. It would be quite strange if this thing would have a coffin, so it would more likely have something like a favorite place for its roots or the like. So I'll second the burning down the forest aproach. Burn that damn thing, then watch how the Thing dies. Being in a lowmagic world, disrupting weapons are also not an option. It's a pity....
Btw, a silly question, does that Thing drink from other trees ??

I say you take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

The locals might be ****** if you torch the forest. To say nothing of how they'll feel if you Enola Gay their Nagisaki...

And I think that resorting to atomic weapons is just a bit much, even for a vampiric tree.

Now if it was a Vampiric Redneck tree, then yes, going nuclear would be acceptable.

I would also challenge your DM by reminding him that vampirism only works on creatures of the Humanoid type, not the Plant type. If he insists on it, say "You're trying to totally screw us man. What's the beef? Come on, throw us a bone, this fuggin' thing dosen't have a heart to stake!"

Not to mention the druids, rangers and dryads who MIGHT hold a grudge against you guys if you just burnt down the forest.

If they were doing their job the tree wouldn't exist. This forest is in need of some clensing fire.

I was gonna say something about that, but it seemed too obvious... this monster is stupid. Beyond being overpowered, since it has a powerful template applied to a creature that can't support it, and basically has most of the weaknesses removed... it's still just stupid. What is a tree going to do with blood, anyway?

The evil treant has undead characteristic...is not vampire, just vampric-like since the treant has power drain (sorry for the confusion). It does not take blood, nor afriad of water and sunlight(no eyes). The forest is its coffin and burning down the forest is not an option.

The evil treant was created as result of the group failed to stop an evil wizard group from taking control of some magic item. So it was kind of the group's fault that the evil treant was created.

Touch of Idoicy also won't work since it apply to living creature. The evil treant is an undead.

Let me go back to the beginning.......

Our country is at war with its neighboring country lead by the Dark Prince. The dark prince has employed an evil wizard group called Spectural Hand. The Spectural Hand has turn on of the treant into an undead. It has the characteristic of the varmpire with none of its weakness. The objective of the treant is to create undead creatures for the dark prince. The process for the evil treant to create an undead is by sticking his root into a Moon Well and turn it evil. Any creature (dead or alive) that has been thrown into the Moon Well becomes automatically undead. Thanks to this undead making machine most of the forest has been turn into a playground for the undead. There are three Moon Wells. Since once the treant leaves one moon well he can never return, so if the group cannot kill the undead, we will have to evict the evil treant three time. Hence my initial posting. We don't want to have to evict the evil treant three time (Although I suspect that is what the DM has in mind).

This is our initial plan: Go into the forest as stealthly as we can(globe of invisibility, hide in shawdow, hide from undead, detect undead). Go to the moon well in which the treant is currently reside. Get as close to the treant as possible(within 5 ft radius) and cast two fire wall with the fire side face out so all the undead will have to take min of 60 pts of damage to get to us while the fighters kick the treant's ass until he become gaseous form. We will try to kill as many undead as possible on day one. We will then move out of the forest, accross the river to rest.

If we cannot kill the evil treant on day one, it will make our job that much harder. We will need to figure out a way to sneak back in evict the treant for two more times. Obviously, the treant will send undead out looking for us and the wizards will be targeted (in case you haven't figure out, I am one of the wizard). We are a relatively newbie group with a seasoned DM (what an unfair match up). So any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. If not for killing the evil treant but for killing hundreds of undead. Any equipment suggestion will be welcome, just remember it is low magic. We only have access to the most basic potions and no magic items and spell lvl higher than 6 is not allowed.

PS THE DM is not interested in TPK. :P

I was wrong; It's time to go nuclear.

Seriously, this sounds like trouble. I think you should go to the two moonwells he isen't inhabiting and set up traps that will handle the sucker there. Then go evict him once.

nor afriad of water and sunlight(no eyes)

Vampires don't have a vulnerabilty to sunlight because they have eyes.. it physically burns them. The light of god or something, or a vulnerability to ultraviolet radiation, depending where your vamps come from. But Treants actually do have full faces.

The forest is its coffin and burning down the forest is not an option.

Fire is always an option. Especially when the subject is a plant creature, or a mummy.

while the fighters kick the treant's ass until he become gaseous form.

When he goes gaseous, have a wizard waiting with a wall of force or something that can make an air tight space.. if he can't escape to whatever part of the forest is his coffin (it can't be the entire forest), and if he can't get there, he dies.

If not for killing the evil treant but for killing hundreds of undead.

Level up your cleric and have him take Empower Turning?

My strategy still stands. Cast Heal on it. It'll deal a minimum of 110 damage (will save for half of course), which should take it down nicely.

I know you can't actually CAST heal, but you can purchase a scroll and be done with the critter.

Interesting idea but I don't think it will work because it only works at one min per level and you need to keep the vampire gaseous for more than one hour to kill it.

Cast healing is a good idea in dealing with the evil treant to bring it down...but it still doesn't answer the question...what to do when it becomes gaseous.

It might if it was already in gaseous form, though. It is a good way to permanently get rid of an annoying vampire. Just stick him in it, and wait for the sunrise. ;)

You could cast it again... putting a wall of force around the first wall of force before the other expires would make it stay.

I'd suggest finding the nearest temple to get a handful of clerics to turn undead or have your cleric do it as often as possible. Hopefully they are low-level undead so they'd poof.

Another idea is to hope you have a druid in your party with blight. Does d6/lvl on plants and plant creatures. Combined with a heal spell you'd pretty much take out both halves. If you don't have one spend some time looking for a druid which might include spreading a rumor of your group burning the forest down or find a way to talk to a god(divination, ask a higher level cleric to communicate).

You could try to find the creator of the treant and attempt to make him tell you how to defeat it. Its worth a try if you don't want to attack a huge evil tree of death. :p

Last idea would be to bless each of the other two moonwells. Undead abomination of nature + holy water = not a happy camper. That would require you finding a way to move the treant off the current spot.

kill evil undead treant munckin with fire, follow the gaseous form (fly speed 10' isnt really good enough to get away) when it gets where its going blast it one more time (if its based off the vampire its only gonna have 1 hp when it reforms) keep a couple members of the party here ,then start gathering water to drown the evil spawn of a fern pla......uuuuuhhhh dm lol :D oops didnt realized this one posted before my connection got cut :D

ok time to kill the unholy undead vampirelike....treant?...Anyway, fire, lots of fire this might be a situation where firewall is more useful than fireball...go figure, any way whack it till it screams mercy then once it goes gaseous follow it(fly speed 10' isn't gonna cut it in the escape department) once it gets wherever its going it should reform with 1 hp (if its based off the vampire) whack it one more time then leave a couple party members there to keep it down for the count. the rest of the party are now the water collecters buy/craft a decanter of endless water get a bunch of clerics/druids together and cast create water whatever ya have to do(by the way if you might wanna do some research, if this thing isnt vulnerable to sunlight/water/stakes in the heart then you have serious problems and your best bet may be to capture it in its weakened form and take it to some nice secure dungeon and place it behind LAYERS of traps so that it doesnt get out for a few years and nothing gets in to get it out. populate the dungeon with monsters you capture, talk a band of orcs into helping you out for a small share of the parties future loot. layer glyphs of warding and fire traps and explosive runes everywhere around the treant seal off the entrance to the room behind a few feet of wall.If ya cant kill it secure it. :D
hopefully this helps if your options forkilling it are more limited which i kinda suspect
good luck

Eh, I'll give my usual advice:

Find the closest Great Gold Wyrm (anything older than Ancient will do), and tell them about this wretched fusion of undead and plant. Watch them go crazy as they hunt down the creature and destroy it with everything they have.

Burn the Treant! Burn it! Either that or build a bridge out of it.

then what? What can I do to capture it? The evil treant is not afraid of the water/sun/stab in the heart.

First, inform your employer that you will need a vast amount of silver, but he will not have to worry about undead for a while. Powder the silver, and begin casting Bless Water on ALL the groundwater and pools in the area. Bless Water is permanent. The Treant will die when it is trapped in a forest filled with holy water.

Or get the local druid to cast Ironwood on a bunch of spikes. Then stake the vampire treant.

Or you could have your cleric use Turn Undead.

How about comissioning a Flaming, Undead Bane Greatax (you could call it the Lumberjack ).

Have you considered that it might have weaknesses from the part of it that is a tree? Maybe you could sever its root system and have the same effect as a stake to the heart. Maybe its really vulnerable to fire. Maybe it has no choice but to drink holy water from its roots.

Have you considered tying to communicate with the tree itself? Maybe the being that it once was is still in there somewhere, hating what it has become and desperately seeking to be released from its pain. If that is the case, it might help you.

You could also talk to the healthy treants in the area. This thing is an abomination and a danger to the forest. They could send some animated trees that would help keep it contained while you kill it.

If you have the means, you could do some research and find a way to save the creature. It is an innocent and a victim. Maybe if you find a way to save it, the treant can tell you something of the enemy's plans.

Summon termites may not be as silly an idea as it sounds.

As far as i remember there is a summon vermin feat in the Ebberon campaign book that allows you to summon swarms.
