How is it so hard to find time to play?! [Archive] - Wizards Community

BladeMage here, I've been playing (or at least reading, and buying the books.) D&D for a while now. I have to be the DM, since my one player, (That's right, only 1!) doesn't know to be a good DM, yet. It's hard to find time to play D&D, since we have High school and he camps alot, and isn't home most of the Time.

And if we do find time, playing with only 1 player is hard enough, (he plays 4 PC's... I know) and finding space to play is also very un-pleasant. Most of the time we'll have to play on the floor. My other friend would like to play, but over at my house is to cramped and stuff. My friend I am already playing with, his house is better to play in. (he has a basement type room downstairs)

If it was my house, I'd pick a night for everyone to come over and play for an evening. (like every other saturday) and everyone would arrive, make their PC's from scratch, and beggin a new campaign. Since I don't make the decision of their guests, this is out of the question also.

If only I could get about 3 other people to play, a place to play, and a time to play, I'd be set.

I really like playing this game, so why is it so hard to arrange a party?

It's common. But people have lives aned an RPG will quickly be put on the backburner in favor for other things.

Ya, its unfortunate you can't find anyone else. Although, if your not adverse to having someone you don't know play, you can try the gamer classifieds.

Hmmmmm...

A sure way to find some players would be to go to the local gaming shop, there's always (or usually) posts on their board about players needs players, or stuff for sale etc.

Heh, I don't know how you can play with 1 player with multiple personalities.
Though I guess you have to do what you have to do to have fun.

Our group is 6 players, all friends from college though we didn't all play in the same games in college. We all have our lives but surprisingly despite popular belief our game is not on the backburner but a weekly event. Sure we like to hack and slash things and RP it up, but what it boils down to is we get to play HALO afterwards...I mean the fellowship. Old college buddies, good food, and laughs.

Put an ad out or as mentioned earlier check the classifieds, you'll be surprised how many closet D&D players are out there.
