| KyleKatarn07-14-06, 03:55 PM | Hey all, Just a few questions to distinguish those hard core gamers from the others... 1) How much do you spend of DnD a month? I spent about 200$ this month alone 2) How much do you play? I'm still getting to know the game, I found a few people so I would say atleast every two weeks we get together and host a game 3)How do you treat your DnD stuff? I like my things organized so I have a bookshelf just for a my books, a protective case for my minis and such, so I guess I keep good care of my things 4) How many times in one day, do you visit these message boards? I've been ill, so I'm here quite often, apart from these ailing times I would check once everyday 5) How hardcore of a gamer are you? I'm still a beginner, so I don't want to be getting to far ahead of myself, or holding my gamer's level to any high esteem. So if it would be on a scale to 1 to 10, I would give myself a 6 1/2 Anxious to see your replies. Thanks |
| thenotoriousJIM07-14-06, 08:52 PM | You are crazy... 1. I spend the gas to get the game and 5 bucks for pizza every week, and that is about it 2. I play a few hours every sunday. I used to be a 2 times a week, very involved group. but i got too old and got to much of a life to do that. (not to be insulting) 3. My books are in piles all over my room. Wizards upgrades and forces everyone else to upgrade with them often enough that i do not care all that much. I do not treat them horribly, but not like they are my prized possesion. 4. Depends. i am on the boards all the time if i have nothing to do. If not i check when i have the time. That could mean once a day if i have the time, or i could miss weeks (finals and other reasons) 5. 6.5 is still pretty high. i would assume 5 is average and everyone thinks they are better than average... that is why people cry when they get a C... a C means you are average, there is nothing wrong with being average. I spend about 3 hours a week on these boards, another 2 hours emailing the other guys in my group about gaming stuff, and about 5 to 6 hours actually playing... So a total of 10 hours a week. Aside from that i am still fairly normaly, i still spend 6-7 hours a week shooting hoops, and other non gamer hobbies. I also know i am not one of the big names on the boards (there are a few guys on these boards that i know have forgotten more about rpg's than i will ever know). Everything considered.... a 5... Normal, with that tyraid you now have a point of reference as to what average is |

WoTC has declined in quality sufficiently to make me regret buying any new books, and so I won't be buying any more until they get their act together. 2. Maybe a few hours a week. Total 6 hours a month, maybe more (lately it has been significantly more--6+ hours a week) 3. They're on a bookshelf. I try to be nice to them, but accidents happen. 4. All the time. 5. Eh. Been playing long enough not to be a "beginner" but it doesn't rule my life. 6, probably. |
| TheMeanOne07-14-06, 11:16 PM | 1. Once every five games it's my turn to bring snacks. That usually comes to about $20. I also paid for half of the bookshelf housing my girlfriends books . . . 2. During the summer, once every two weeks for our normal campaign (it's once a week the rest of the year). Plus I'm writing a solo campaign that'll probably start in a few weeks and playing a solo campaign maybe once a month? I spend a lot more time reading or walking then playing Dungeons and Dragons. 3. I treat the stuff well because it's not actually my stuff - it's my girlfriends. 4. I'm pretty new here, I'm here probably about once a day. 5. How do you define "hardcore?" |
| Bob Loblaw07-15-06, 12:06 AM | Hey all, Just a few questions to distinguish those hard core gamers from the others... 1) How much do you spend of DnD a month? Varies, but anywhere from $50 to $200. 2) How much do you play? I run a game every Saturday. I am also in a couple of online games. We are trying to get another game going on Sundays so I can play some too. 3)How do you treat your DnD stuff? I treat it like everything else I have. I don't mess up the books by marking in them. I don't use them as coasters. I loan them to my friends without question. I try to keep them looking good because I paid good money for them. 4) How many times in one day, do you visit these message boards? At least twice a day, but I don't usually post much. 5) How hardcore of a gamer are you? Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but judging by your answer, I would say rather hardcore. I have been playing DnD since 1979. I went through a variety of phases on how much I got into the game. Right now, it's a big part of my life. My friends and I get together and have a great time for several hours each week. Without DnD though, we would find something else. I don't think I'm any worse than a football fanatic or movie buff. It's just something I enjoy. |
| erc197107-15-06, 12:20 AM | 1) How much do you spend of DnD a month? Right now I am working on collecting all the D&D minis, so about $500 a month. Once that is done, I will go back to a book every two or three months. 2) How much do you play? My regular group tries to play every Saturday for an 8-12 hour session. Life gets in the way, and we play about 75% of the time. I have another group on Friday's and another monthly group on Sunday. Back in the early 90's while I was in the military, I gamed 7 nights a week, oh, that was golden ;) 3)How do you treat your DnD stuff? I am super **** about procting my stuff and making sure it stays in perfect shape. I hate using my metal miniatures that have been painted for fear of getting a chip in the paint. 4) How many times in one day, do you visit these message boards? 3 or 4 times a day. Once while eating breakfast in the morning, and usually several times while at work, the summer season is slow for us. 5) How hardcore of a gamer are you? Backdoor Sluts #9 level of hardcore (that is a Southpark reference BTW). I enjoy gaming more than any other activity outside of bed ;) I live for it. |
