If you've ever read any of my posts before you might remember I have a lot of problems with the way my DM runs our game. Despite it being a fairly enjoyable game between times when one of his on the fly house rules or improvisations comes into play.
I could list them all but right now there is one that is my primary concern. Were returning to a town to rethink our strategies for invading this Temple of Set. Were returning to town to regroup and I'm planning on buying some spells. I'm a bit worried though that the DM may decide to charge me outrageous prices Ex: At one time Identify, Web, Levitate and Grease cost me 7,000gp in Waterdeep, after which I bought them for the amazingly low discount price of 1,200 or something at the temple of my god. Later on he only charged me 500gp for two 2nd level spells.

To get to the point I'm looking for good IN GAME/Rp'ing way to negotiate lower spell prices if they happen to be a bit high. For instance what would you do if your wizard walked up to a vendor and the spell was 2x to 10x the cost listed in the book?
P.s. The setting is Forgotten realms if that helps any.

First, don't let him know the spells that you want to buy, and ask him
for a list with prices. You could also invest in the skill bargain.

Also maybe if you have some spells that is not on the list you could try to trade.

Find something the seller wants, that you have. Make a trade.

If you want in-game ways, think of what your character would do.

VERY good point here. He may try and keep you from getting certain spells, so just ask for a rate or a list of PHB spells and prices.
