My dm is planning an epic campaign. The dragon is an Adult Gold dragon starting as a cleric(Lawful Good). How would you handle playing as an ascendant? My dm wants me to play the pc to its full extent, one of the other players wants me to play the dragon scaled down because my dragon would be to powerful yet he is going to play a half-human/half-orc barbarian who becomes a kensi, the 3 other players and me agree that i should play it even show my enemies that im strong and that you should not mess around with me but do not let my allies know that im becoming a somewhat of a god. And which of the 3 do u agree with? Playing to my full extent, hold back my powers, or play it even.

Play it however YOU want to play it. It's your character, and you should be the one to make the choices for it. The first priority is for you to have fun. However, if you have fun, but nobody else does, that's not a successful character. Basically play it however you'd like, but make sure not to hog the spotlight too much :) .

I agree, but it's always fun to play gods among mortals...

Well. Keep in mind that just because you're Lawful Good, you're also extremely long-lived, and therefore see the world very differently.

In other words, what some might consider evil, you see as good in the long-term.

As well, allow your ego to boom. A dragon is capable of much, and they very well know that in their lifetimes, they will surpass nearly every living creature in physical, mental, and magical ability (excluding those Epic monsters). They will know that even the most powerful of demons would not rival theirs; they know that only the deities themselves can challange them.

As soon to be deity alignment is very important so you have to play very LG. As long as the others don't ask you don't have to tell them, but when they ask you must speak the truth.

A Ascendant will probably look at things from a different perspective and think the long time implications of his actions first.
Still, alignment is subjective and when there is evil you have to destroy it even when this means that in the long term there will be more evil. You just have to destroy that evil too.

But you won't be able to take this PRC soon so you have time to think about that.
Also, don't worry that you will be too powerfull. PCs dragons are very weak. Depending on how powerfull your dragon is in the game, you can try to convince your DM to use the D&DG when you reach the final level of the ascendant for a additional power boost.
Of course you have to get to that point first...

PS: You might be interested in taking the VoP after taking a level in Ascendant.
You have to be LG anyway, so beeing exalted isn't very off and you have to eat all your treasure so you automatically will be poor.

Otherwise you have to start gathering your equipment again.
