(I know this thread should exist and probably does but i couldnt find it)
As many people wo come here asking for help im a newb in d&d but thanks to a magical evening of light drinking and good dice throws i got one of the most kickass characters (without the maxing loopholes) ive seen (the best out of the 10 ive seen)

Its a 5th level Monk half orc

My question is how do i role play my stats

Str 18
con 15
dex 18
int 10
wis 18
cha 9

Now my problem is with the last three stats how do i play a high wisdom average inteligence and definetly uncharismatic?

Normally i kick ass in any dungeon or whatever but my interaction suffers i just play him as a dumb person who is rather ugly but that doesnt fit with the high wisdom that he has

Please give me tips for this my unability to play this character correctly is hampering my roleplaying learning

Hm. Interesting stats. And good char choice; I love monks! :D

With a low Cha, which affects your personality, I'd say either be a.) utterly lacking in self-confidence (BORING!), or b.) see below..

I also play an uncharismatic Halfling Monk, only I purposely took my Cha down to an 8. He's caustic, sarcastic, and completely without couth in social situations. With a high wisdom and average intelligence, you're not about to complement the King's daughter on how sexy she looks in her new gown, but you would certainly leer at her until the guards give you nasty looks. Eat with your fingers as long as no one's going to pound you for it, and even if they try, you're a friggin MONK, so that's not about to happen. Or so you think.

If intelligence is planning, then wisdom is insight. Let the other people make the big plans (while you sit in the background eating noisily) and then purposefully deconstruct them, exposing as many flaws as you possibly can. With your wisdom, you're probably right most of the time, which annoys people even more. Just make sure you can hold your own in combat so they have a reason not to completely despise you.

My group only has a Warmage and a Rogue, so they need me and we all know it

damn thats a good idea low charisma can also mean that you make people hate you more often than not or at least fear you (grins evily), thanks for the advice

andorxor what do you mean by cryptic

Speaks in riddles. That always seemed more like an intelligence thing to me, though. Not to mention you literally need as high an intel as your char to come up with constant riddles on the fly when people are speaking to you. Or maybe I'm just dumb. In either case, it's beyond me lol.

I'm presuming he meant (well, it's what I thought of as well)

Never get to the point, talk in ridiculous Zen- style ideas, without necessarily knowing what they mean ("When the sky turns red, it is not time for the cockerel to gather his seeds") which mean you don't make a point, and just befuddle people (another concept of "low charisma").

You may also be very quiet, as you're wise enough to know when not to say things. Also, that high Wis means you'll be the one who notices the smaller things going on.

But of course, He who strikes as the cobra shall never be the one to recieve the priest's gift.

Please also note that with 10 being human average, 9 charisma isn't particularily bad.

Make your character a contemplative. You don't pay much attention to people, because you're spending more time trying to get in tune with all of creation.

I would go for a ranger. High str and dex are cool, and wis is excelent. And rangers aren't very social people, aren't they? Or druid, for that matter (cha penalty is hurting a bit, but not too much).

the chracter ive been planning has purposely low CHA. he's introverted and melancholy, appearing quite evil to other people in his fighting style although he's actually a really good guy (Chaotic Good fighter/druid/pirate, as a matter of fact)

Those are some really badass stats for a monk.

Int 10 is average and Cha 9 is only slightly below average (that's most of us, unfortunately). Wis 18 would make you very observant and insightful, but you wouldn't be the most poetic as far as sharing your insights is concerned.

Get a book of Zen koans. Read them through and use them (or just make some up) at inappropriate times.
"How are we supposed to get into the castle without either a larger force or the ability to fly?"
"How does the caterpillar know when it's time to make a cocoon?"
"...what?"
"He sees all the other caterpillars doing it."
"What the hell does that have to do-"
*points out an enemy force moving to attack the castle* "I heard them approaching from the other side of the wood."
"...oh."
