| fatal error07-16-04, 05:39 PM | Ok, so after my druid died the last session I made a cleric of Wee Jas (LN). So any tips on how to roleplay such a character? |
| LunarCaustic07-16-04, 05:47 PM | Wee Jas clerics IMO would be uncaring, and very strict, and of course lawfull. Remember clerics of Wee Jas dont have "insta-cure" so think about that as well. The spells you need to memorize for cure would be saved for the most important character that protects you, listens to you (obeys you), basicly whomever has the most to gain from being alive. hope this helps |
| fatal error07-16-04, 06:07 PM | Well, I solved the cure problem because my group had a want of cure moderate wounds on them. (yay for not having to mem cure spells even wehn not spontaniously casting them!) |
| Thermanshs07-16-04, 08:57 PM | I've made a variant of wee jas HERE (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=220091) Hope the little info about the concept you're looking for helps... |

Remember clerics of Wee Jas dont have "insta-cure" so think about that as well. How so, if I understand a neutral cleric of a neutral deity can choose whether to convert spells as either cure or inflict. According to the SRD. Spontaneous Casting: A good cleric (or a neutral cleric of a good deity) can channel stored spell energy into healing spells that the cleric did not prepare ahead of time. The cleric can “lose” any prepared spell that is not a domain spell in order to cast any cure spell of the same spell level or lower (a cure spell is any spell with “cure” in its name). An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric of an evil deity), can’t convert prepared spells to cure spells but can convert them to inflict spells (an inflict spell is one with “inflict” in its name). A cleric who is neither good nor evil and whose deity is neither good nor evil can convert spells to either cure spells or inflict spells (player’s choice). Once the player makes this choice, it cannot be reversed. This choice also determines whether the cleric turns or commands undead (see below). Wee Jas is LN, so I think that would merit unless something over-rules that. If that's the case then the Complete Divine has a nice feat to cover that. |
| fatal error07-16-04, 10:31 PM | While I believe it is true you could choose to spntaniously (sp) cast cure but wee jas being the goddess of death seems like inflict would fit better. EDIT< I just read your Wee Jas cleric and I found it odd that they lost spontaniously cast inflct, unless I read it wrong...>EDIT |

That doesn't matter since her clerics are any Lawful alignment while the goddess herself is LN. If you are LG or LN, you can cast spontaneous cures. If you're LE or LN, you can cast spontaneous inflictions. If you're LN, you must choose at your 1st cleric level which energy you want to channel spontaneously (positive to turn undead or negative to rebuke undead); and once it's set, it's set permanently with no way of changing unless you change your alignment. Since Wee Jas is neutral on the good-evil axis, she couldn't care less, so you have the luxury of changing your alignment during a campaign and thus changing which type of energy you channel. Be aware that your DM will not allow constant, drastic, and immediate changes in alignment, so this is something that actually needs roleplayed out through some adventures in your campaign. |
| fatal error07-16-04, 11:49 PM | Well regardless, I ended up choosing negative channeling, and seeing as how i've already played him I doubt I will change it. |
| RaKhan07-16-04, 11:54 PM | Originally posted by fatal error Well regardless, I ended up choosing negative channeling, and seeing as how i've already played him I doubt I will change it. Now all you need to do is turn yourself into undead along with your party members so you can then spontaneously heal them! :P ;) |
| fatal error07-17-04, 03:05 AM | As noted above we have solved that problem :) . |
| fatal error07-17-04, 03:15 AM | Anyway, enough with this energy channeling, that is not what this thread was supposed to be about! :) |
| fatal error07-18-04, 11:21 PM | :bump:  :bump: |
| Super Guy07-18-04, 11:29 PM | Can one command undead and, at the same time, spontaneously cure? I'm fairly sure that in 3.5 clerics of Wee Jas must channel negative and clerics of St. Cuthbert must channel positive energy. |
| Enslaved DM07-18-04, 11:32 PM | Check the Living Oerth Journal at Canonfire. One of the issues has a 2nd edition write up of Wee Jas, but since you are going there for RPing not number crunching, it should serve you well. You might also try posting on the Greyhawk board. |
| fatal error07-19-04, 02:16 AM | The Oerth Journal was quite helpful, thanks. |

I'm fairly sure that in 3.5 clerics of Wee Jas must channel negative and clerics of St. Cuthbert must channel positive energy. If you spontaneously cure you have to turn/destroy. Makes it rough for my good mummy cleric…I wanted to rebuke so I could bolster myself! Anyway, if the bit about Wee Jas and St. Cuthbert isn't the way it is, it is the way it should be. In 2e (and quite possibly earlier) Wee Jas was big L little e, and St. Cuthbert was big L little g. So they had no LG clerics of Wee Jas and no LE clerics of St. Cuthbert. |
| Murmos07-19-04, 10:40 PM | If you're interested in how your cleric would have been trained, how s/he prays, etc., I would recommend the Complete Divine handbook. People are mixed on it--I think it's a rather useful book. |
