| snakeman83009-19-07, 08:23 PM | http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c199/snakeman830/wolfblade.jpg I stole the picture off the internet, but I added the blade on his left forearm myself. The blade is mounted to the forearm and extends approximately 2-1/2 feet past his elbow (back) and his wrist (forward). Overall, the shape is that of a cresent moon. Sorry for the explanation on his weapon, but I've got no idea what to call it or what it's most similar to in D&D. |
| doomblade403x09-19-07, 08:29 PM | Looks like a gnoll to me. Just use the stats for gnoll and build accordingly. |
| VulcanStormwrath09-19-07, 08:40 PM | Maybe half gnoll? |
| RealSorceror09-19-07, 08:41 PM | Gnoll. Lupinel. Werewolf. Any of those will do. As for the weapon, I vote Dwarven Buckler Axe (its a sheild...and an axe). Or just be a Soulknife and shape your Mind Blade however you like. |
| _Jayne_Cobb_09-20-07, 10:06 AM | I wouldn't. |
| snakeman83009-20-07, 03:13 PM | I wouldn't. :heehee Trust me, I know the crappiness of Soulkives. (or were you talking about my question?, in which case::ahem: ) Where can I find Lupinel? Please don't tell me BoED. I also remember reading something about a LA+0 wolf-like race. Anyone know which one I'm talking about, or was it just a homebrew race? |
| Thubby09-20-07, 03:34 PM | anthropomorphic dog or wolf maybe? (savage species) as for the weapon, i would call it an interesting variation of the bladed gauntlet. (arms and equipment) |
| Kakerate09-21-07, 02:32 PM | I like the suggestion for Gnoll, or half-gnoll. Maybe that doesn't sit right with what you want tho, so... alternatively if you'ed wanna say, perchance, you were once human and backstory wise u pee'd off an evil wizard or sorcerer who cursed you to look like a wolf or some such you could just use the stats for a "human" and say the look is only cosmetic. Or elf if human isn't your cup o' flavor. Its also a good idea(tho strangly uncommon) to just consider your weapon an "exotic-looking" longsword. This saves you the trouble of arguing with dm over special stats, and lets you keep all the flavor of using your own personalized weapon. -just use the stats for longsword exactly as written Its just one of the things you can do. Honestly their are many many ways to handle a weapon like that. |

I don't like doing stuff like that (unless I paid the gold for Polymorph Any Object) Oh, and I prefer humans to elves overall (though elves make good undead and better skeletons than humans). | Crash16909-22-07, 01:06 AM | Albino Gnoll Swordsage with Exotic weapon proficiency Arm Scythe. OR a Human Werewolf. |
| snakeman83009-22-07, 04:07 PM | Albino Gnoll Swordsage with Exotic weapon proficiency Arm Scythe. :uh-huh: I see a little too much grey for this to even be possible, let alone plausible. |
| Ace_of_time09-23-07, 03:19 AM | Just use the stats for a punch dagger but increase the damage to a larger sized weapon. |
| Tedronai09-23-07, 06:08 AM | Just use the stats for a punch dagger but increase the damage to a larger sized weapon. You mean the stats for a Stabaxe, essentially? You're really going to call that a light weapon? The thing is bigger than the creature's entire arm. A bladed gauntlet is far closer in flavour, and in mechanic, but I would suggest increasing the size catagory of the weapon to 1-handed (and correspondingly, the damage to 1D8) |
| Ace_of_time09-23-07, 07:37 AM | No I meant to use the stats for punch dagger, move it up to one handed, and increase the damage to 1d8. |
| pres_man09-23-07, 07:45 AM | Shifter (Eberron, MMIII). Weird weapon = cost of scimitar + cost of locked gauntlet (use the stats of a scimitar) |
| DrMorganes09-23-07, 08:57 AM | Looks like [an EverQuest] gnoll to me. Just use the stats for gnoll and build accordingly. Fixed. ;) In all seriousness, Gnolls in D&D have always been described as hyena-headed, evil humanoids that . . . have dirty yellow or reddish-brown fur. The image above does not look like this. That, and the gnoll's +3ECL (2 racial hit dice and a +1LA) just hurts. From what I understand, the Lupinel is likely your best racial choice. I think it's a +0LA race that looks about like the picture. |

And I'll have to agree that a punching dagger probably isn't the right comparison. We are talking about a weapon that's at least six-feet in length here, and all of that's blade. |
| Salla09-23-07, 08:57 PM | Lupinals are indeed BoED, I'm afraid. For something more sane, there's Lupins in the Dragon Compendium and the Laika in the Savage Species Web Enhancement (or the 'unusual-looking human' option). As far as the weapon goes, we're deep into 'completely infeasible weapon by real physics' rules, but that's not a big deal. What is that thing strapped to, anyway? It doesn't even look like it's attached to his arm ... but anyway, I'd say stat it as a fullblade (A&EG). |
| snakeman83009-23-07, 09:24 PM | Lupinals are indeed BoED, I'm afraid. Crap. I don't like that book for obvious reasons (just take a look at my avatar and you'll get a clue why). For something more sane, there's Lupins in the Dragon Compendium and the Laika in the Savage Species Web Enhancement (or the 'unusual-looking human' option). Okay, a little digging for me, but I'll look it up. Not really. I can see someone trained in the use of that thing dealing some serious damage. It is (supposed to be) attached to the forearm. I have crappy picture-editing skills in Paint, so that tells you why it doesn't look attached. One of my friends has A&EG, so I'll look up the Fullblade. |

One of my friends has A&EG, so I'll look up the Fullblade. fullblade is a big bastard sword. 2d8 19-20. i dont see that weapon being as strong, a greatsword is about 6 feet long and only does 2d6. i think it would be an un-disarmable longsword, or maybe d8 (critx4), for a more scythe like feel. |
| Wolfvyn09-23-07, 11:00 PM | I would go with shifter too since they don't have a level adjustment and they look animal like. AS for getting that weapon, you could be a psy-warrior and use graft weapon. It makes an arm basically useless for anything else, untill you ungraft if anyway. You could always just talk to your Dm and see if he and you together could come up with some exotic weapon on your own. |
| snakeman83009-24-07, 08:41 PM | Okay, I would have looked at the book myself, but thanks for saving me the time! Graft Weapon wouldn't work. Notice the weapon is just strapped to the arm, not part of it. He still has full use of his hand on that arm. |
| Ace_of_time09-24-07, 10:55 PM | Why not just make a harness that any sword type weapon attaches to? |
