Heavy cloak, hunched walk, walk around only at night.

Hat of Disguise, Illusion spells, etc.

Wait outside of town in woods.

Wild Shape into dog, walk around with party.

Stay as normal, walk down street with party. Speak with guards.

First of all, are tri-kreen considered "monster" in this town? If no, why are you asking this on the forum? If yes, what the Nine Hells are you doing there? If you have some business, I see 3 ways:
1) Diplomacy. State what you are doing there to the first guard, ask him to help you find what you want, and pay him.
2) Intimidation. Same as above, but could end in RFftTGwIHtM quickly.
3) Stealth. Enter at night, wildshaped in a common dog, find your business, and leave ASAP. If things turn ungly, it'll end in RFftTGwIHtM.

Now if you're playing a typical Dark Sun cultured Thri-Kreen a town is an interesting setup.

A lone thri-kreen would feel exposed, surrounded by meat beasts and away from its pack/tribe. You are intelligent, however, and can deal with the meat beasts on their level if need be. He can go in, shop, etc. He doesn't need to get a hotel room, Thri-Kreen don't sleep and see sleeping as a very very strange phenomenon of the meat-beasts. Laying motionless for one third of your life? Ridiculous!

Really, I don't know why a Kreen would want to live in the city. He needs no more than he can carry, anymore is superflous. He doesn't need a "home". While there is plenty of food in a city, hunting the meat animals is dangerous and they seem to believe that they "own" the various other beasts in the nearby area. How does one own a cow? Strange beasts... but when they attack you for feeding, even when you offer them some graciously, that is too much. Might as well return to following the wild food, leave these meatbeasts to their hive-citys.
