How would you play.. [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-07-06, 06:46 PM ... a Sun Elf Beguiler?
I made him CG and he has got a very high INT(20) and low CHA(8) other stats are 10-14.
He will become an Ultimate Magus later when he levels up (so the next level he
will advance as a Wizard due to his background.)

It would help me if you could give me some advice how he would interact with
the other party members...all level 1:
Halfling Rogue
Half-Elf Fighter
Human Cleric
Human Bard

12-07-06, 07:25 PM Well, with those stats, i would personally play him as "Mr. Monk". Super smart, but socially inept. But then again, i play odd characters.

12-07-06, 07:33 PM I'd play him as very haughty and dismissing of the other characters, seeing as they are all of "lesser" races. Maybe have him point out true but disparaging facts about their history.

12-07-06, 07:34 PM Most Elves can get away with being arrogant because they are also charming and suave. Your guy certainly isn't that, so he gets on peoples' nerves. You can contemplate the advanced mysteries of the universe while playing ping-pong, but coming up with a witty retort is beyond you. Not only does that mean you can't get away with what the traditional Elven arrogance, it will seriously hurt your dude's standing in Elven culture too. A quick wit and a dancing tongue are necessities in the finer corners of society (and in Elven society, it's all fine corners.) That your character is a failure in this regard may even be his impetus for adventuring--perhaps he figures he'll be more at home amongst the more pugnacious humans, than his subtle and taunting elf "peers."

12-09-06, 10:44 AM SUPER CHAOS!!!! He is really smart so he should think of like 6 things to do, then roll a d6 and go with the first-sixth depending on what you roll.

12-09-06, 11:08 PM any beguiler with 8 charisma is asking to get slapped for the sheer dependency on charisma based skills..i mean your skill points will help out but say your str is at 10 swap it with your charisma score so you at least dotn get any penalties on the checks you will likely often make as a beguiler.

As for the actuall question. i would play him as a up and comming political power who while he grates peoples nerves is smart enough to make his opponents look so completely worthless at their job people will vote for him instead.
