Ok so this may be a bit off topic of this fourm but my browser is ticking me off so hope you can live with it. I recentally found a mathamatical calculation witch is take your total life gained from all things like feats and con and stuff like that and subtract from your total hp. With that new number you divede by your lvl and you will get your advrage dice roll. Currentaly my ranger has a roll at rounded up is 4. Are barb has a roll of rounded up is 7 but are fighter d10/dwarven defender d12 he has a roll of 10.15... A little high eh? not to mention he has a life total of like 400. we are lvl 20 but who cares.

Personally, I don't like rolling for HP at all. I prefer to take the average at each level.

taking average is good for classes that have a large range on hit dice. taking average on a roll that could be anywhere from 1-12 or 1-10 is rational but if you are a wizard/sorcerer you might as well roll. your range 1-4 so taking two is not much better than rolling. you have a 50% chance of getting better than average a 25% of equal and a 25% of less, so it is less of a risk than if you take 5 on a d10 roll 50% of better 10% of equal 40% less

I hope that makes sense

I suppose your point is the fighter has more HP than should be possible, right?

I suggest to you that he 'took' max HP and then you missed a feat or boos from somewhere. If it really bothers you, have everyone re-figure their HP.

Around level 10, I like everyone IMC to get a fresh sheet. They are usually pretty scruffy by then.

thanks for the suggestions and comments. Unfortunally the DM (witch will be him in 2 days says that he dose not have to) In a vaine attempt to live through the next map. Hope fully we instate the rule where if more than half the clan votes the DM out we go to next map. :D

I am not really sure what you mean by this post, but in answer to your original post, if you are rolling for HP, you can expect at least one character to exceed the average roll, and you can expect at least one to fall short of the average roll.

If a lvl 20 character's level were split evenly between fighter and dwarven defender, and the player rolled above average each level, then an average of 10 or higher is not unheard of. And remember, since at first level you take the max HP for your die type, you start off skewing the "average".
