I'm having some issues with the combination, but i really want to play one. First of all, Humans have no ability modifiers so he's lacking in alot of things. There's also another problem. From what i'm led to believe, Lycanthrope MUST Worship a Chaotic Evil Deity, and to my knowledge, there's only The god of Slaughter. Normally, i wouldn't worry, but he's a Cleric and i want him to have the Domain Spells of one of St.Cuthbert's Domains...What would any of you reccomend?

Unless your DM has house ruled it, a lycanthrope doesn't have to worship a chaotic evil deity.

What kind of lycanthrope are you playing?

Werewolf. I was reading the sample character and under alignment it said 'Always Chaotic Evil'. And, of course, with that as my Alignment, being a cleric, i can't exactly worship St.Cuthbert. I Was also thinking of changing the race to Illumian, depending on their racial traits..

"Always [alignment]" isn't 100%. There will be good (most likely neutral) werewolves.

Plus, if you can control your own lycanthropy, threating it like a gift, not like a curse, you should have no problems finding a nature God to worship.
In the Forgotten Realms set, Sêlune is Goddess, among other things, of good and neutral lycanthropes.

The web enhancement of complete divine have the perfect solution for you.
The moon guardian is a prc that allows you to keep your aligment even with lycanthropy thanks to your strong tie to your deity

Well, the character himself hunts undead/vampires/other lycanthrope/that kind of stuff because he's searching for a cure for his disease. I can't do PRC's yet because i'm only a level one, but where can i find more on this moon guardian?

Selune might be goddess of werebears.
Always -is- 100%.
Except ofcourse when you have been sanctified, or when you have a feat or similar.

MM says there's a chance that 'always alignment' may have other alignment. However, it's an 'unique' chance.

Seeing how these is D&D and everybody creates his own alignment, a neutral/good werewolf is not so impossible.

The problem is that when players tend to play it, they tend to keep their alignment and never change to another one.
"Because they are that unique one".

I really do not believe that is logical.
Perhaps when a player receives it, roll d%. If they roll over 90, I'd let them keep the alignment. Because they're a player, they might have a better chance, which is why I'd give them 10%.

Or just let the player create a good background explaining it.

If it's in his history, it'd have to be really good.
If he contracted the disease or the likes, no.

I find it rather absurd that character's histories are frequently the most unusual things ever.
Apparently, every adventurer has had a very interesting life before he went adventuring.
I wonder why they're still level 1 then ;o

Because adventures ARE special people. There are thousands of anonymous people all around, but adventurers are the choosen one. To accomplish great things or become that fat ettin's breakfast, but they are, before anything, special.

A character could have gotten the disease when he was 5 years old (or even less) and thanks to the help of the clerics of [good aligned God] he can somewhat control himself while in wolf form and, while he's still savage, he doesn't get sucked into the blood and bowels spire that most werewolves get into when they morph.

I thought the were bear was c/g?I read a story about a cleric of kord who was a were-bear?Perhaps draw up stats for a were-lion give him a chaotic good alignment and make him a male worshipper of bast?

If the guy has been aflicted with lycanthropy, his alignment does not change until he willingly changes into his lycanthropic form (its in the MM entry near the back, in one of the sections about playing a lycanthrope, or it may be in the control shape rules). Now, when he changes against his will, his alignment temporarily changes (IIRC), but that would make for some fun roleplaying. A LG Cleric of St. Cuthbert (remember that a cleric only has to be within one step of his god's alignment - i.e. the CE werewolf could worship a CN or NE god) who sometimes turns into a werewolf against his will (refer to control shape - you will need that skill) during which time he loses all his priest abilities, or something. Another option would be to just play a different type of lycanthrope (some of them are good or neutral), or just convince your DM that the 'all lycanthropes of X type go to Y alignment' is stupid (and seriously, why does every lycanthrope except a werewolf have animal characteristics in normal form?).

Edit: I know that slaughtering people to eat them is evil, but the MM describes non evil lycanthrope behaviors as well for the non evil ones, you could just use those for a werewolf.

An adventurer is just a normal person with the will to actually go do things. What makes them special is their experience, nothing else.

That's why normal people got 10-11 on their stats, and an aventurer can hit 20 at first level. Right?
Witch

In my campaign, normal people don't have 10-11s. If theyre special, they have the same type of stats as PC's. If they're not, they have the 13-12-11-10-9-8 array.

Fact is, theres tons of "special" people out there too. Only the lowliest people have that sort of array. Meaning: when I haven't statted them out, they have that.

Pg. 30 of the PHB says that you may be one step away from whatever deity you choose to worship. So you could worship a Chaotic Neutral deity, or a Neutral Evil deity.

Also, Moon Guardian (Web Enhancement from complete divine) is a great solution to the problem. Try using the Savage Species werewolf template and then create a situation where any time the character voluntarily/involuntarily shapechanges they must succeed on the Will Save or move towards Chaotic Evil. It works pretty well in that it allows a good or neutral character to "redeem" being a werewolf.

why not have him have evil tendancies, that he has to shrug off, or make him evil when he transforms, until you have learned to control shape? Maybe make a quest to make yourself good/work according to your allignment.

You could always use good domain spells in human form, and evil domains in werewolf ;) Prolly against the rules, but it sounds cool heh

Does the alignment restriction go for natural werewolves (or any lycanthrope, really) as well? I know infected lycanthropes shift alignment if they voluntarily change shape (in other words: embrace it's power), but it seems quite strange that someone who's born as a were-whatever must go and kill stuff, despite upbringing.

Well, here's the character in a nutshell. Maybe it'll explain why it's Vital that he's Lawful Good and a Cleric of St.Cuthbert.

Name: Gideon Crawford
Age: 23 Human, 161 Lycan.
Gender: Male
Race: Human infected with Lycanthropy
Class: Cleric
Profession: Exorcist
Citizenship: Temporarily LotD

Height: 6'5
Weight: 152 lbs
Alignment: Lawful Good

Physical Description:

Human:
Gideon is very strange in his clothing style for his time, but looking at his place of residence, it's fairly normal. Gideon commonly wears Priests robes when performing exorcisms, but when doing something physically straining or anything that requires excessive amounts of energy, he wears an average white tank top with baggy black pants and black military-looking boots. Over his shoulders, he commonly wears a cloak that doesn't extend much past his ribs, also black. Around his neck, he constantly wears a hand carved(From metal, mind you) Cross, that has been blessed and used many times over. Tall for his race, Gideon tries to not let it affect him. He has loosely tied long greenish-black hair. Whenever he can, he wears dark black sunglasses and a large hat to cover his face. He'll usually wear armored gloves, with crosses embedded in the palms, and also tatooed on his hands, in the same spot. On his back, a shieth and a scythe to loosely fit through it. The scythe was forged with a mix of Silver(For disposing of fellow lycanthrope) and some other substance, giving it a dull black shine. On the opposite end of the scythe, a sharpened wooden tip, most likely for disposing of lesser vampires.

Lycan:
Clean, smooth black fur, with strange white markings (Usually in the shapes of crosses, and Xes, the Xes most likely from scars) covering his body. Around his waist, only the remains of his tattered pants, and useless scraps of boot hanging loosely from his gigantic back feet(Paws). Around his neck the cross still remains. When in his Lycan form, Gideon grows about 20-21 inches, also quite tall for a Ware, especially a Human Ware. His ears long, and pointed, are among other dominant features, a very intimidating part of the body, and highly regarded among wolves. One of the remaining two dominant facial features of Gideon are his Massive teeth, obviously intended for biting, and possibly dismembering or decapitating unworthy foes. The third and final attribute that gives him a psychological advantage is his small, silvery-white, almost azure eyes, that almost seem to glow when the moon is large. When in this form, he can be quite intimidating, and also quite powerful. One would be wise to avoid Gideon during a Full moon, or an Eclipse, when his power grows to the fullest.

Personality:
Gideon is quite the driven individual. Because he is so obsessed with finding a cure for his disease as soon as possible, he is usually considered a loner. He's always been smart and tactical, even before he was bitten. His ability to think beyond a certain circumstances makes him sometimes very intimidating. While he maintains his composure in public, he is much less in control of his emotions in private. The thought that no cure can be found plagues his mind, causing him to slowly go insane. His insecurity feeds from that and his lack of close friendship. When he killed his parents, he killed the only people that could have loved him for who he was.

History:
Originally from a Small, Farming village, Gideon lived a good, calm, and quiet first 16 years. He worked on his farm with his father who taught him how to weild a scythe as both a weapon and a tool for farming, and he became quite good at it, almost mastered it even. His mother was always cheerful, beautiful, and smart. She always seemed to know what he was feeling and if it was negative, she knew how to fix it. His father was just the same, yet, larger, very strong, determined, and strict, much like the other children's fathers. He loved his parents, and never thought of defying, or losing them, for some reason, he was quite carefree. One night, he was out late, about 9:00 PM or so doing some extra chores on the farm while his father had sprained his ankle. He was finishing off cutting some of the late-blooming vegetables until suddenly he heard a deep, wolflike growl, but this was different, it had emotion behind it, It almost sounded like a human groan. He turned just quick enough to where he took minimal bite wounds to the side, , and so that he delivered a fatal blow to the wolves neck, or so he was led to believe.
The next morning, Gideon awoke to the sight of his mother sitting by his side, watching him sleep. He asked her what happened, and she explained that her, or his father, weren't very sure. When they'd found him, he had severe, and no longer minimal bite marks to the side, with scythe in hand, and a dead townsperson about four feet from his body. When the townspeople caught wind of this, they made absolutely sure to make him feel like a criminal, like he'd commited murder with no just cause. He tried to ignore it, and it succeded, for a while. The incident had become forgotten and a few monthes later aside from many cruel, piercing glances, he was ignored.
On the start of the following month, the day began normal. He helped his mother with her morning chores, and proceeded to help his father with the farming. Nightfall was approaching, and he began to feel an unquenchible bloodlust, but he tried to restrain himself, busying himself with chores and other basic tasks. It worked, but it began to work less and less as the day went on. Soon, His muscles began to bulge, and he became increasingly itchy. His clothes were beginning to rip as he became so large, until finally, he underwent the transformation. He screamed with such pain and fear that he began to bleed slightly from the throat. His first transformation was greusome, and attempting to describe it would be disturbing and not worth trying.
The now beastly Gideon tore through his parents farm, and their small, but once loveable home. He growled and grunted like a wild animal as he went straight for his parents, devouring every edible portion and then some, leaving the place as quickly as he destroyed it. He awoke in a forest, not far from his village, and wondered. He didn't understand, why was he there, where were his clothes, where were his parents, how would he get home? He ran almost without a purpose through the forest until he came to the clearing that led to where he used to live. He saw the burning tinder that was once his home and ran with every bit of strength he had. When he arrived, he knew. He knew everything, and without a word, he prepared. He went to one of the remaining sheds, took his fathers trench, a hat, his strongest scythe, and a bag for some extra clothes, and dressed himself as well as possible, then set off for undead lands in search of answers, cures, anything that could help him with the curse, though he wouldnt enjoy what he found.
It took him two years to arrive, and after he did manage to get far enough in, He was met by more than a few ferocious beasts that he just couldn't handle. They did what they would with him and he'd almost ceased to live, but eventually, he was found. When he was found, he was met by an exorcist, whom he trained with for years. He was taught how to use holy magics, which were paramount for his survival against the undead. But a tip from his master, he set off in search of answers.

10-11 is imo too average for the average person :)
Its not like all us normal people all have average strength, average intelligence, average dexterity, ...
We are a little better at one of them, and a little worse at another.

I know. The teacher of the school would have little higher intelligence, the guard's captain higher strenght (or dexterity) and your local princess may have higher charisma, but in average, those are the stats.
