| KeithR05-26-07, 03:24 PM | In our current campaign I have a 5th level cleric (Pelor) that is geared up as an undead hunter. This was pretty easy with all the anti-undead feats and abilities available. Part of the characters story, however, is he also hunts evil outsiders and I'm having trouble finding any feats that are specifically geared toward combating EO. I will soon have my 6th level feat available and will also get my 9th level feat before our campaign gets into the EO confrontations but I want to be prepared. Suggestions? |

| Forgotten_Warrior05-26-07, 05:21 PM | Why don't you look in The Book of Exalted Deeds? |
| KeithR05-26-07, 05:45 PM | Why don't you look in The Book of Exalted Deeds? I did, nothing really stands out there. @calronmoonflower I don't have Tome of Battle of the Fiendish codex but I'll look into those. Thanks for the link, Divine Justice is just the type of thing I'm looking for. |

Thanks for the link, Divine Justice is just the type of thing I'm looking for. Divine Justice is also in PHB2. Also, a lot of weapon properties in MIC and spells work on Evil Outsiders AND Undead. There's also a Feat in BoED (Sanctify Weapon, IIRC) that allows you to deal an extra 1d4 damage with a weapon that has had Align Weapon cast on it. |
| calronmoonflower05-27-07, 04:54 AM | Divine Justice is also in PHB2. It's a different feat with the same name. |
| draco111905-27-07, 08:17 AM | It's a different feat with the same name. That's what I get for not following the provided link. Sorry. |
| primemover00305-27-07, 12:18 PM | Well it's not a feat but look at a Knight of the Chalice PrC in Complete Warrior. They're specifically geared to fight all manner of Fiends. |
| KeithR05-28-07, 09:25 PM | I like the PrC but it would be tough for me to hit the prereqs for as a cleric. The Complete Champion has a killer spell (Turn Anathema) that just became my best friend. Since my cleric is already geared up to turn undead this spell allows me to use those abilities against evil outsiders. |

Sacred Exorcist (CD) is a great class for a good aligned cleric who hunts evil outsiders and undead. Its easy to get into for a cleric...only need to make sure you have plenty of ranks in Knowledge plains and religion. Compared to a straight cleric the only loss is the good Fort save progression and the fact that level based domain abilities won't increase. Your DO keep your undead turning, so no loss there. But you get a bunch of nice tools for fighting evil outsiders and undead. You get Detect Evil at will, Dispel Evil so many times per week, and Holy Aura 1/day as spell like abilities. All very nice. You get a constant consecrate spell that emanates from you. And you get a chosen foes (either undead or evil outsiders) that gives bonuses to caster level checks to penetrate SR and on certain skill checks against the chosen foe. Its a very strong class for a spellcasting cleric who fights a lot of undead or evil outsiders. As for feats, it might help to know what feats you already have. Almost every healer I build I give augmented healing, as that realy ups the healing on the higher level spells. Also Extend Spell, since the many uses of this for a cleric are staggering. For clerics I'm a big fan of Domain Spontaneity (if you've got a nice domain or two) and Divine SPell Power. And of course theres Divine Metamagic if you want to go that route. Extra Turning would be good too. Theres some real good feats in Libris Mortis for dealing with undead. Empower Turning, especially with the Glory or Sun domains, can be very strong. Energize spell if you fight a lot of undead and use a lot of damage spells (works great with spontaneous healing spells to attack undead). Sacred Vitality is pretty handy too and gives some benefits to you that death ward does not, particularly immunity to ability damage. If you wield a weapon a lot, then Improved Buckler defense is good too, so you can wear a buckler (with magic vestment) and wield a two handed weapon for extra damage. I really like Divine Defiance too (FCodex II). The ability to counterspell as an immediate action should not be overlooked. Favored Magic Foe from Complete Mage would work good too, especially for a Sacred Exorcist. Stacking that with Chosen Foe against Evil Outsiders will give a huge boost to spellcasting against them. Thats just some ideas off the top of my head. Hope they help. |
