They don't get starter gear. They get an amount of gold based on thier class to buy there gear. |
| TheChilliGod09-13-06, 12:21 AM | If you're talking about the starting packages (the ones that come with skills, feats and such), they can be found at the very end of each class entry in the PHB. If you mean starting equipment for 1st lvl; then as Aeromus said, you do get a certain amount of gold based on your class. The chart for this can be found in the PHB, page 111. If you are starting at above 1st lvl, then official starting equipment would depend on how much money you have for your level (not your class); the chart for this can be found in the DMG, page 135. | storm140209-13-06, 11:11 AM | It also depends on house rules, ask your DM if he/she offers any starting equipment that is normal and how much it costs. I as a DM start them off with just basic Back pack, flint & Steel, waterskin, and 2 days ration free. I do this because in real life I would expect since none of them ever choose a orphen that a family would atleast give them that. The rest however must be purchased. |

(and no money) A present from a GM who decided to have flashbacks to Gamma World (...of course, the gamma world hit point system does make it easier to live as a first level character... 88 hit points at first level - all due to a lucky random con roll of 20) |
