| Radijs02-14-08, 06:15 AM | This evening, in about 6 hours from now I'm supposed to introduce my new PC but I can't think of a good reason to join the organization that the party will form a part of. I'm lvl 9 and the organisation is led by a gold dragon and is dedicated to get rid of pirates. Its frustrating! |

Since he has a crush on the governor's daughter, and she has recently been kidnapped by pirates, he decides to start fighting pirates actively. Works best if you've played an elven ranger in a previous campaign. :D Anyways, if you provide some more information about your character, people here might be able to throw you a few hooks. |
| Radijs02-14-08, 09:40 AM | Sorry I was just ranting a little. Its a homebrew campaign and I know very little of the whole thing. Recently a near TPK required nearly everybody to make a new character, including me. The info the DM gave us was as follows: You will all be recruited by a female golden dragon that hunts pirates. Its one of the example golds from the back of the draconomicon. Its up to us to decide why we've been recruited. Apparently she needs people not just to hunt pirates, but also people to secure her army, maintain contacts in diffrent countries and for law enforcement. Hunting pirates is something she does by herself. She brings bodyguards along but tends to leave them in the dust when she feels like it. |

That doesn't sound very typical 'lawful good gold dragon' to me. A smart mage might catch on to this and either: a) investigate himself (covers an excuse for all arcana classes) b) send in a spy to investigate (covers expert classes) c) send in a grunt to get some information about the 'leaving her own troops behind' thing (covers fighter classes) Add in a bit of pirate history, or a later developed hatred for pirates (or dragons), or a family member/friend the dragon abandoned previously, and you've got yourself a rough character motivation. Anyways, just a suggestion. Feel free to use, alter, or ignore completely :) |
