Celestial_Gold_Dragon 05-26-06, 05:02 PM	Last week my character died. It was the second session of the new campaign (homebrew world) and we had well developed character background and history together. We started at 8th level, at the end of a very epic war between our nation and another that our characters were a big part of. My character was the son of a Duke, a human fighter, former general of an army, and worshipper of Heironeous. I was alive with 3 hps and 2 subdual when Heironeous looked down at the massacre that had happened at his temple and gave a full heal to all combatants on our side in the temple and a message rang in my head. It was my sacred duty to slay a great demon that had arrived. We were here for a wedding between the 2 royal families and the formal signing of the treaty to end the war so I had no armor or equipment, I had acquired a sword during my battle with the ninja-assassins. I charged the thing and ended up dead. Most of my party was occupied elsewhere and the caster who did help me did more damage than help, as his obscuring mist caused me to miss during a whole round of attacks. I ended up bleeding out in its jaws some 40 feet under the floor, as it died to the application of too much alchemists fire in its gut. My DM told me I could make a new character at the same level if I chose, but since my family was so wealthy they would have me resurected if I accepted it. I like my character and don't want to have all the effort I put into backstory wasted so I'm gonna take the res. My question is this: What is Heironeous's afterlife like? We just took the gods for the most part from the PHB and I've never played Greyhawk so I don't know that much about it. Ideas?
rijeagle 05-26-06, 10:52 PM	My guess would be that you would be involved in strategic and tactical training for the final great battle with Hextor. In the meantime, battles with the forces of evil would be a full-time afterlife occupation under Heironeous in his devotion to ridding the evil forces of the universe. Not a bad deal if your a stoic follower of Heironeous.
Hochiu 05-26-06, 11:12 PM	That is, unless your companions tried to resurrect you or something. Then there could be a problem, but then if you want to stay dead you can do that too. Frankly, lets hope Heironeous doesn't end up going, "Oh yeah, guy...Sorry about that. But you see...you were supposed to kill the demon. That was your sacred task. So...ssssthhh...sorry bro."
Celestial_Gold_Dragon 05-27-06, 08:48 PM	Sounds good rijeagle. Hochiu I hope he's not like that. If he is he's not very Lawful Good. Oh yea and my next character will serve Hextor, that'll show him.

In celestia, or perhaps at concordant oposition, is the fountain from which the lethe flows. If a spirit bathes in it, (max once per day) they lose 1% of their XP, rounded up. When they are at 0 XP, they are ready to be reborn.
celtredleg 05-27-06, 09:53 PM	It is not like you deliberately messed up, so the res should go OK. Where I you I would take the res. Makes an interesting story. And besides, the fiend did die after all.
