| timtog01-10-06, 06:22 PM | I'm moving to another state, and want to find a creative and way for my character to turn evil before I go. I've probably got one gaming session left, so nothing too complex. Okay, here's the setup: I play a 10th level elven wizard in a campaign (evocation specialist, prohibited from necromancy and enchantment). The GM disallowed evil PCs from the onset, so he's neutral, but borderline evil. He is always coming up with evil thoughts (like talking about how easily he could kill off the rest of the party), but not really doing anything evil. He kind of makes the other PCs nervous, and they don't even like to let him stay on watch by himself. We just finished killing a big baddie (some sort of devil), and we're staying around this big dwarven town for a while, getting things enchanted, before we set off to try and kill another big baddie (a Lich, we think). I think the party would like him to teleport them closer to the next bad guy when we're done in this town, but they might not trust him enought at this point (after all, the players themselves are expecting something since they know I'm leaving the game). We ended up getting a ton of gold (about 100,000 gold each) from a recent side quest, and my character hasn't spent his yet (most stuff from the core rulebooks should be available to buy, but all is subject to the GM). So, any ideas how I can go out in a blaze of glory? We have a few weeks before our next session, so I might be able to talk our GM into a nice exit story if it sounds interesting. Edit: By the way, I'm not really looking to kill off the party, since they'll be continuing with the campaign. Maybe just the annoying lawful good cleric :) |
| speeblefreak01-10-06, 06:50 PM | Hmmm (sorts through random ideas) You decide to become a lich to match the BBEG's power and try to use a mass sacrifice (fireball a village) to make up for being one level short. |
| FinisofLife01-10-06, 08:59 PM | Why not try and assure them (possibly with a bluff check of some sort.) and get them to think you will be honest and teleport them where they need to go. Before you do go though, stock up on a few powerful wands for quick spells to cast without needing a high concentration check should you be hit or something. Then when teleporting (since you have to hold their hands) have the cleric to your left, another character to your right and the others holding that characters hands. At the last moment, let go of the people on your right and teleport only with the annoying cleric to some predetermined destination by you. Then when he is trying to figure out what happened, you whip out one of your wands and go to work on the guy, looting him and walking off casually into the distance, never to return. Heh hope this works for you or inspired some sort of idea. |
| Tiefling_Warlock01-10-06, 09:13 PM | Oh my GOD! I have the best thing for you. You talk with your DM and allow you to break through a big gap in the BBEG's invincable defenses that focus on a evil throne of some sort, the DM makes the fight really hard, and when you kill the BBEG, you sit in the throne and take his power for your own! It's a great idea because then they have to run or else the Invincable defenses will slaughter them and it puts a nice twist on things! |
| timtog01-11-06, 12:57 PM | You decide to become a lich Now that idea has promise. I'm just a hair shy of the level and gold needed to make a phylactery. |

Then when he is trying to figure out what happened, you whip out one of your wands and go to work on the guy, looting him and walking off casually into the distance, never to return. I have actually considered several forms of this one, but it all hinges upon the rest of the group trusting me enough to allow themselves to be teleported. I'm keeping this as a sort of "plan b". |
| Dragen White01-11-06, 01:14 PM | here is one way i have thought of but never really pulled off due to i wanted not to kill me teamates but if you want... Ok there is an item you can buy, i think its like a helm of brilliance, it has all the jewles that cast fireball, lightning bolt etc, in the DMG. Seems un offensive and totaly liable to the DM and other characters, plus i think its reaslitvly cheap. But its true power is when it is destroyed all the spell are set of simultaniously, i think its like 20 fireballs 10 lightning bolts, and etc, i forget the exact numbers. find some explosive device to destroy the helm in the midst of your allies, and if you can pull it off teleport a delayed destruction so you can escape harm. My wizard was powerfull enough to telleport an item, and i put delayed blast fireballs in the helm. The thought was to teleport it into a persons body or a dragon or such you might want to play with it, but the destructive abilities of this item are so awsome, and its a cool way to go out with a bang. |
| timtog01-11-06, 02:05 PM | when you kill the BBEG, you sit in the throne and take his power for your own! While the plan definitely has merit, I don't think I'll be around long enough for our party to actually reach the BBEG. Of course, that could always be played out with my character after I'm gone, but I really want to take part in the process :) |
| timtog01-11-06, 02:12 PM | find some explosive device to destroy the helm in the midst of your allies Hmm.. Never realized that item could be so explosive. Like I said, I don't really want to kill off the rest of the party. My character doesn't hate them, just finds them annoyingly good from time to time, and he'd probably like to try and put them in their places. The lich idea that speeblefreak gave is still sounding interesting. I wonder if I could dissappear for a few weeks for the transformation, and then temporarily hide the fact that I'm a rotting corpse when I rejoin the group? |
| felgrim_the_meek01-11-06, 02:52 PM | curses are quite possibly one of the most annoying things i have come across especially the dieing curses that you get to choose the symptome of and that take a whole new quest to get off. should you die in an upcoming bout possibly a random encounter set up secretly between you and the DM. you could utter a final curse as you drift away into the blackness of death. the players will think that the curse was left on the creature which could escape shortly after but later discover you have cursed the party. this way even if they guess the actual targets of the curse its still done and it brings a nice addon to the campaign instead of the old im going to go and kill him and take his treasure routene. check out dieing curses. i think there is a little in the book of vile darkness to get you started but i dont remember where it all is. with this you will just make the other charectors a little bothered but not dead and not permantly harmed. though its up to you and the DM. |
| Dead_Karma01-11-06, 06:49 PM | if you make it to the big guy, you could just join him, and when the party is down on hp, teleport outta there. course i get the feeling that you want no hard feelings involved so you'd have to make sure that in the end it waas understood that it wasn't personal or anything |
