I follow Kelemvor! ... Now what? [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-03-06, 08:47 PM My friend let me into his current game. I'm playing the second cleric in a fairly large group (7 people). I decided to follow Kelemvor, as he was the most widely followed god in game, and also the ruling religion behind the current government. This just made the DMs work a little easier to fit me in. The problem was, I always wanted to follow a god of death, and play a necromancer like character. After I started to create my cleric, I realized Kelemvor is very anti-undead. So i took the domains Repose and protection. I started as a human, and took endurace and die hard. I figure that since I understand death on a whole, I do my damnedest not to die, and to help others stay alive (hence the feats and protection domain). It is clear to me now, I am not going to make the best offensive character number wise, and It wouldnt make sense for me, to be, seeing the character's philosophy is one of prolonging life.

While I'm only level one, and I don't like to plan out my characters future ahead of time (as I believe you can never really know how the adventure will effect him or her) I would like to have a goal or two put aside.

Does any one know of any support type PrC's I could build twards. I only have the DMG and Fighter/Monk book. Nothing in either one of them really interested me.

11-03-06, 08:55 PM Hunter of the Dead from the complete warrior makes sense for a follower of kelevmor.

Shadowbane stalker is a stealthy cleric in the complete adventurer that doesnt get much love power wise, but it's a pretty cool concept if that's what your for.

Cheetos are pretty neat too, but I don't know if the prc enterance requirements are worth it. Dangerously Cheesy is a pretty awful feat. It's only a half caster class too, but if there's another cleric in the party, you should be fine.

Wait a minute, what? Cheetos? What book, or are you just trying to confuse people like me, who know the rules better than anyone else in their group, but don't have access to all the books?

I'm pretty sure he was just being silly, though I briefly thought he was making a reference to the Cheater ('Cheeto') of Mystra ... but that's an arcanist. :)

11-03-06, 10:00 PM I'm a fan of the Divine Disciple PrC in Player's Guide to Faerun (someone must own it if you're using the Repose domain). It has very low requirements and good, all-around abilities. Besides, adding the Fate or Travel domains to your arsenal would boost the character considerably.

A similar, although less martial path is the Contemplative PrC. You can also qualify for the Church Inquisitor PrC in Complete Divine. The bonus on dispel checks is bound to help out.

Something you should know, clerics of Kelemvor aren't so concerned about preserving life as they are about dispelling the myths and fears of death.

11-04-06, 09:17 AM Try the Doomguide from Faiths and Pantheons. It's hard to find a PrC that's more Kelemvor-specific than that.

I played one and they're pretty fun, if not world-beaters. Well, no more than a cleric is anyway.

Clauses, other than Santa, are parts of sentences that conatin subjects or predicates, and sometimes both. They are used as adjectives, nouns, and a mess of other things.

11-07-06, 01:02 AM I'm actually playing a cleric of kelemvor right now as well, I've only got to level 2 but it has been a lot of fun!

I can recommend the Doomguide PrC, it isn't too powerful until you come up against undead, but I like the flavor and abilities you get. (d6 hit-dice is a bit of a downer though.)

11-07-06, 01:52 AM Why not try the Death Delver PrC from heroes of horror? that's all about not being afraid of death and learning about it. it's an interesting PrC that I've never got a chance to use.

11-07-06, 03:16 PM Flavor-wise, Kelemvor's life story from when he was mortal is actually pretty well fleshed-out, and it's likely that many of his clerics would know of it. There are places you can find more about him, and you'd do well to research it: it's got lots of nifty flavor that clerics could draw inspiration from. This is even more true if you start delving into some of the stuff Kelemvor did early in his tenure as a deity.
